The cable broke on my Prime and I need to open the hood to repair/replace it. How can I open the hood on my Prime so I can replace the cable? I searched on line and I couldn't find and information for the Prius Prime hood release. THANKS!

Had exact same problem, also on 2017 prime. My wife took it to the stealership before I could take a look at it. They removed the front bumper to open the hood and replaced the cable release. That was at 98kmiles. It was NOT covered in the warranty:-(. She didn’t tell me how much it cost.

It was rather urgent, as we were suffering 12v battery failure, and had to jump start way too often, and would’ve been stuck without being able to open the hood.

That was the original 12v battery. From my understanding it was recalled? So, theoretically Toyota should replace hood release cable for free, since we’ve all had to open the hood hundreds of times too many, due to the defective 12v batteries, right!!??

but new 12v battery was installed a couple weeks after hood release was repaired. That was in 2020. All good w new 12v battery and hood release since :)
