I drove about 700miles but since 2 weeks ago, when I apply the brakes gently, it starts making noise. I know it's still break period, but the sound is annoying. Are there people experiencing the same symptoms as me?

It could be rust on the discs. Here in Oregon where it's been raining a lot, the discs will form a light layer of rust after sitting outside for a day or two.Makes a little noise at first but after a stop or two, the rust comes off and they're silent.

FWIW light braking over time can induce squeaks.
I'd try a brake procedure.... drive 55 mph, brake hard to 25, let cool for a minute, repeat 3 to 5 times.

Otherwise, mechanically, you may have glazed the rotors so remove the wheel assembly and steel wool clean the rotor with brake cleaner. Going steps further, remove the pads and inspect the surface is 100% level (research brake pad blueprinting), inspect that the pad anti squeak layer/ material is there and/ or add anti-squeak compound to the pad backing (piston to pad) area, and re-lube the pad/ caliper pins.

Probably not a warranty repair, yet again, I guess the cause is light braking, so go do some heavy braking.
    Let us know your results.

The friction brakes can see very little use with regenerative braking. Some hard braking that gets the friction brakes engaged should remove the rust and what not that is likely the cause of noise.

Without more information, the brake linings could be worn through. Some Prius owners have complained that the Prius is hard on brakes, but I think it's the driving habits of the driver. Personally, my brakes on my Gen 3 lasted for over 10 years, because I relied on regenerative braking as much as possible.

I doubt the brake pads are worn after only 700 miles.

I could have said that after i replaced the pads and rotors on all 4 wheels that my front brake / brakes were squeaking too. It lasted about 2 weeks for me and only happened after really wet conditions most of the time, but in the beginning it happened when the bakes were dry too. It also only happened at the beginning of drives, maybe the 1st mile at most and at very slow speeds, not more than 30 mph.

Each brake pad has 4 shims and 2 wear clips. I only had one packet of grease and I think I was able to squeeze enough out of the one packet to grease all 32 shims, but some of the grease may have gotten into the holes in the pads backing plate and not enough on the backing plate.

Good news is that my squeak stopped making noise after about two or three weeks. It wasn't fun trying to explain to my passenger, why my brake job was squeaking, though.

If the squeaking continues or gets worse, the service center should be able to fix it, as long as they find the reason for the noise.

The best way to get rid of any rust/build-up from brake discs/rotors is to drive at say 50mph, put the car into neutral and then do a series of long firm brake depressions.

Putting the car into neutral stops any regenerative braking, thereby giving you full mechanical braking rather than a combination of the two or mechanical braking when you really jam on the brakes.

It's from brake pad dust. Brake hard a couple times. Should fix it....for a while anyway

Thank you for all the comments! The squeak sound seems to come from the rear. I'll have to try heavy braking a few times. With regenerative braking, I didn't get chance to do heavy braking.

Unlike some suggested here, you are not supposed to do any heavy braking during the break-in period. In fact, I wouldn't do heavy braking in any period unless there is an emergency. Refrain from destroying your new car by braking heavy, accelerating heavy, etc.

Have the car checked under warranty at the dealer instead. Don't try to fix it yourself, which will only make things worse.

Noted. I might need to go to the dealer and ask them. Thank you for your input.

That is just stupid wrong. You will absolutely NOT destroy your car by braking or accelerating of any kind.

Medium hard braking at increasing levels of speed was, at least once, recommended for setting new pads after the install.

Let us know what they find out. It could be a manufacturing defect. Perhaps there is something wrong with the electronic parking brake system. There could be an object stuck in the caliper, too. New-car brakes should not make any kind of noise under normal driving conditions whatsoever. Don't brake hard before you have the system inspected, which could cause further damage to the pads and/or rotors if there is already something wrong. You have a full warranty; so, use it.

These are the current break-in tips from the owner's manual:

    ■Breaking in your new Toyota

To extend the life of the vehicle,
    observing the following precautions
    is recommended:

    ●For the first 200 miles (300 km):
    Avoid sudden stops.

    ●For the first 600 miles (1000 km):
    • Do not drive at extremely high
    speeds.
    • Avoid sudden acceleration.
    • Do not drive continuously in low
    gears.
    • Do not drive at a constant speed
    for extended periods.

I am sure gentle driving during break-in and throughout the life of the vehicle will extend its life.

Gentle braking should be regen, but the last few feet, like six, before a stop is when I can hear the disk brakes operate. If the car has been sitting and the rotors get surface rust, more noise. Forgive if already said.
