Brake, ABS, and Traction lights on after coming out of Invalid Mode

    2012 Plug-in with 170k miles.
    Anyone experienced same thing?
    Did I damage something while going into Invalid Mode?

    Any solution?

    There are a couple different ways of entering invalid mode. Which one did you use?

    Have you read the trouble code(s) yet?

    I did the non-TechStream way.
    I am wondering if I broke something by doing that "press brake 8 times within 5 sec" thing....

    I could not get TechStream to work on my Win10 64bit laptop, so... (have to search to see anyone posted a solution for this)

    No, I have not, could not, read the trouble code(s).

    The press 8 times thing doesn't break anything. It's just a clear, but of course it can only clear codes that don't have some reason they're set.

    Have you tried getting the codes by blink counting?

    Finally got the code. C1246
    Cleared it about a couple of weeks ago and it hasn't come back, yet.

    All 3 came back but no check engine light.
    I borrowed OBDII code reader to see if there is any fault but it reports none.

    Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
    I wonder how that mechanic got the code C1246 previously, when there is no faulty code...

    Is this something only Techstream can see and clear?

    Not only Techstream, but there do seem to be some readers that can't.

    If you're stuck with one of those, you can always use the jumper and blink-counting method to find out what the codes are.

    Solving the problem might be something very simple, but knowing the codes is the best way to start.

    took it to same mechanic and he said C1391.
    It was C1246 before.
    I am afraid to know what these codes are pointing to but have to ask to make a decision.

    Is this pointing to that very expensive Booster or Booster Pump assembly?

    Both of those codes can be brought on by a problem with the booster, though it is not necessarily a sure thing. That makes an incentive for going through the workup procedures for the codes first. It would be good to have had the INF code to go with the C1246 (Techstream can read those).

    The C1391 can also implicate the booster pump. I was hoping the manual would give more useful advice about distinguishing which part has the problem, but their suggested procedure seems nothing more than (1) check for external leaks, (2) if not solved, change the booster, (3) if still not solved, change the booster pump.

    If it were my car I might at least be playing with the Techstream active tests and a stethoscope to see if I could get any better hint than that. Maybe I couldn't, but it might be worth a try.
