Hi all, Got my 'new' Prius a couple months ago and feel a bit anxious about how it would handle in the upcoming rainstorms. I am used to driving bigger sedans and even that could be scary sometimes going over deep puddles of water in pouring rain. Hope no water will get into the batteries.
Lived in Southern and Northern CA, the later of which gets significantly more rain. Nothing to worry about. Same water smart driving skills apply.
Lol. Don't worry. Just don't drive through a creek and you are good. Had tons of water on the roads here early this week (5" of rain came down quick) and no hydro planing or dead batteries.
Good to know my Prius won't float away or the hybrid battery immobilized going through a puddle. I must say Prius is not the most confidence-inspiring car even in normal driving conditions. I only love it for the mpg and JBL audio.
Can't tell for Gen2 but Gen3 is typical Toyota, and must say one of the better ones. Very comparable to Corolla and Camry. On top Prius is very roomy and practical for small car but with typical for toyotas so-so handling. Didn't care for car we got our for MPG, now with C we are 2-Prii family. Had to tinker with suspension to make it tolerable, but the power is adequate for most situations.
Just don't stop by and do donuts on the front yard! I however, along with my front yard await the deluge with much anticipation. Also keep a set of good wipers and a bottle of Rain-X at the ready!
OMG i drove 30 miles today in pouring rain and waded through several small 'lakes' when I took the side streets instead of Hwy 110 or 710 (bad idea, thanks Apple Maps!) My usual 45 min commute turned into 90min but fortunately both me and the Prius arrived in one piece. Thanks for all your feedback, Cheers, Wolfy
