Just got my car a few days ago and am having a lot of fun. It was a previous rental purchased from a local huge new Chevrolet dealer who actually sells hundreds of used cars.

My first thought was oil change. The oil window sticker says 43,687 miles or January 2012. I called the service dept. and they said they change the oil in every vehicle before it goes out. Not sure if I should believe them based on the window sticker. I hate to waste the money on an oil change, but know the importance.

Does the car have a maintenance warning or should I just take it to my local TOYOTA dealer and get it changed?

it does have a warning. and if you look at it and it's clean, it's probably fine. they go quite awhile these days between changes. however, some might say it's a good insurance policy to have it changed anyway, especially if you plan to keep it for 100,000 miles plus. all the best and welcome!

That Chevrolet dealer probably didn't have the correct oil for the Prius. (none of the GM cars use the 0-20 the the 2010 Prius uses) I would take it in to Toyota and have it changed.

Yea i agree, just to be safe go to Toyota and have the oil changed.
Read the owners manual so you know what has to be done, they will thry to convince you to do extras.

As am alternative you can ask the used car dept to check their reconditioning invoice to see which oil was used.
