Well folks, I was contacted via my site by Bossdowner who shared with us 5 photos of the new Prius a short time ago.

He says that he is blown away by the hundreds of pages devoted to his pictures. I'll say that he finds it funny how Toyota is almost laughing at how they are getting a lot of free publicity from their 'planned' leak pictures that they continue to post.

He shares similar feelings with me that these 'teaser' photos Toyota keeps putting out are somewhat ridiculous, especially when for many of us this really isn't a game. With the current economy purchasing a new car is a major decision and as potential buyers we should be shown real facts or simply made to wait, not teased.

He does want everyone to know that he never was and still is not in this for any money. He never made money by releasing the photos nor does he intend to in the future. He says he released the photos here first because of the sincerity of the members here on PriusChat. That says a lot folks.

Anyways everyone, he gave a me a link to share where he has made up his own 'commercial' for the 2010 Prius on a site he has that he admits doesn't really work quite well and not many people go to lol. He says he just uses it to stream off the wall content and movie clips. He wants us to have fun viewing his homemade commercial and enjoy the music he chose which is from "something's coming" from Bernstein’s "west side story." Also, he says there's a second little commercial featuring "my favorite things" played by Dave Brubeck.

I'll say I watched the commercial and I thought the music worked for the commercial haha. The pictures ( in the 2010 prius video)are some of what we have seen already but many are new like 2 new photos of the steering wheel (right hand side) and a partial passenger side view but not from an angle. Look for the 2010 Prius link on the left... So as Bossdowner told me, Enjoy!

UPDATE - At first there wasn't a link to 2010 Toyota Prius favorite thing on the left but now there is. Watch the video and be amazed everyone! The photos in this commercial will impress quite a few if not all of us.

Videos are also now on YouTube due to issues with the original site:

Here's my crude attempt at sharing a few stills from Bossdowners commercial. You have to see the commercial to appreciate the color screen that will be in the dash but I love how the 'mode' screen for the battery/engine etc will be up there like that. Bossdowner, you rock! lol

Wow, some great shots of the dash display and center console in those 2 videos that I found.

What do you have to do to get the video's? All I got was a quick flash of the tail light and then lots of blank screen and music. Tried again and got video of band playing.

I think he's updating one of the video's right now all so give him a bit of time to put them back up :)

Once they are back up, if they are in the same spot as before, you'll find them on the left under where it says On-Demand.

    First, thanks bossdowner!

    Secondly... time for more observations!

    1. The POWER button is back in the normal place
    2. Anyone figure out what the red light is for? "Security"?? (aka the engine immobilser/alarm blinking light)
    3. There's a square thing (button?) with 3 smaller squares (for lights?) that is to the left of the volume knob in the picture with the steering wheel. I have absolutely no idea what could possibly be put to the left of the volume knob
    4. The mini MFD found in the TCH and HiHy is now a larger version with the shape of the car (in this case the Prius) between the clock and the shifter position
    5. I can't make out the two words on either side of the front wheel on the schematic
    6. There's a weird pictogram on the silver button. Seemed like there was something around the hood or windshield area of the pictogram
    7. Headlight washers mean that the LED or HID option will be available in Europe (where headlight washers are mandatory if the vehicle is equipped with HIDs). Whether we'll get headlight washers as well will remain to be seen. I just hope it's not tied to the windshield washer action.

Excellent ! And the some of these "photos" were actually videos. I think we can all see that with the interior video, where the lights were flashing. At about 48seconds, there is a shot of the front end, where the camera slightly rotates around the car (impossible to do with a photo). And new images/perspectives that we have not seen previously. Excellent! How many mpg ? Squint and see if you can read it - LOL!

Update: That's weird - I can no longer view the video. I watched it the first time just fine, but now it keeps redirecting to a page that says I have to join their website first. I deleted my cookies and cache and browsing history, and reopend my browser, but it's still doing the same. So, I tried a different browser. Same thing. Just for that, I'm going to buy a 2010 Honda Insight!!!
(just kidding about the last part)

I had wanted to see if I could zoom in on the dashboard display and maybe get some still images of it.

So if the current MFD information is on the main dash.. what's on the MFD display in the lower dash ? GPS/stereo/climate/reverse cam only ?

Waste of a good MFD if that is the case... unless it has more of the things people want to see... like engine data and in-depth battery status

In that configuration we'll be able to see the climate controls and the HSD information all at the same time instead of having to switch the screen modes! :D

    I still don't get it.
    .
Who is bossdowner, what is his relationship to Toyota if any,
why does his profile imply that he doesn't own a hybrid, where
are all these pictures really coming from, why should we believe
any of it, and why is the supposed "info" waffling back and forth
like it's done over the last couple of months? How is a stream
of data from some random subscriber who joined a month ago managing
to occupy so much time for so many people?
    .
I, for one, would like answers rather than teases, thanksverymuch.

I/we don't know who Bossdowner is or his/her relationship to Toyota...but Toyota has confirmed that the images are real...thus the justification for so much interest.

I'm working on transferring the videos to YouTube because I find that other site unusable. I'm also going to start working on pulling some screenshots from it so that we pour over the stills!

Just a few more minutes until they are up on YouTube.

Complete guess here: Looks like the round cluster of steering wheel controls are touch-sensitive rather than physically clicking buttons. Maybe that's why they have counterparts on the dashboard that light up.

Also, by having a mini SOC display on the dash, does this mean the MFD is now going to be optional? (Sort of like in the Camry)

i want to bet thats not the case;)

i think the MFD will be optional
and the midconsole will now have place for a 2DIN mounting bracket
you can have NO MFD and only radio controls
    or
    MFD
    or
    your own 2DIN radio
