It looks nice, and the specs seem good too. From what I can gather in doing a few Google searches on this, is that people are generally happy about it. The amp looks to be 200 Watts RMS, which is a decent amount of power for an 8" sub. The cost seems right, too. It won't be as loud as the Infinity Basslink, but it should be louder than the Kenwood KSC-SW1.

If that would fit on top of the amp under the passenger seat I'd be really interested...how difficult would the install be in that location?

It's less than 3" in height, so it may be a possibility. It may press up against the underside of the seat a bit, but that may be good or bad depending on your passenger ;). Having it under the passenger seat would be nice since your audio and remote power connections are within inches. The hardest part would be running the main power cable from the battery to under the seat, but even that isn't too much of an issue since you don't need a heavy guage cable; 12 gauge should be more than sufficient. You can probably step down to 14 gauge without denying the sub the power that it needs.

The Kenwoold connectors are on the underside, whereas the Boss's connectors are on the side, which would make your mounting solution feasible if the height fits.

You may need to remove the plastic cover over the JBL amp and do some careful measurements. Also, I wonder if adding some washers to the seat bolts to raise the seat a bit could work.

Thanks guys...might be worth buying one to see if it would actually fit. I'm not worried about running the 12ga wire, that's pretty easy. I just don't know what's involved in connecting the sub itself. And if it won't fit on top of the amp I don't know where else I'd install it.

I don't have Nav so I have no idea what kind of space is under the driver seat, but would that be an option?

If it doesn't fit under either seat, you may be able to attach it (vertically) to the back of the rearseat, stick it in the hatch box. Or, if you're in a radical mode, hang it upside down from the ceiling! :)

I have NAV and the CAN-View box sits on top of that...so that side's not an option.

I don't really want it anywhere that it's visible or have it take up any space. I've had the car for over 4 1/2 years now and have lived without a sub up to now and can survive the rest of the life of the car without if necessary. I'll only get it if I can do a really clean hidden install.

    Just a little investigative update....
I found a medical text (Recent edition of Nelson's Pediatrics to be specific) that was exactly 2.8" just like the Boss. It does fit under the seat, but a bit too snuggly. I don't think it would be possible to use the seat properly without risk of damage to the wires under the seat, the sub, or something.

Another couple tenths of an inch and it would be fine, 1/2" and it would be perfect with room for velcro and everything.

I was taking a look under the seat today too. It would be a tight fit. I guess you could always remove the JBL amp cover and just sit it right on top of the amp. Heat may be an issue, but I don't think the JBL pushes enough power to cause significant issues.

I thought about that, or finding a way to lower the JBL a little. But the floor vent is directly beneath it. If you remove the cover you'd need a good way to dampen the vibrations of the sub on the metal case (adhesive rubber feet?), but it might buy you the few millimeters you need.

I'd sure like to do this. Even considered whether I could fit it at an angle under the front of the passenger seat (back wouldn't be good b/c of the vent) I even thought the pocket in the back of the seat might work...just drop it in there!

I've never installed a sub and I'm not sure exactly what is involved with the JBL... I saw the harness for the bazooka tube for sale here and that made me optimistic that there might be an easy plug-&-play option like that for this Boss sub...if all I needed to do was run a power source I could do that in a matter of minutes.

I wonder if this thing could be bolted onto the front edge of the back seat....hmmmm.

I velcro'd my Cleansweep on top of the JBL amp after removing the plastic cover. The Cleansweep is only 1.5 in high, so there's plenty of room left. Not sure how the BOSS would fit there. I wonder if you could turn it upside down and attach it to the seat frame instead.

    Ya! Double-duty as a back massager! :)

Even if there wasn't a harness, all you'd need to do is tap the rear speaker wires. Not very difficult at all.

Maybe. There's room behind the sheet metal. But inserting the bolts in from the outside might be tricky.

I decided that the front of the back seat wouldn't work well...just not enough leg room left for adults.
I also thought it would be pretty easy to elevate the passenger seat a little...but then there's the safety questions and I'm not willing to deal with that for a little bass boost.
It's really tempting to order one of these and just see if it will fit...if the 2.8" is a peak hight but the actual height is only ~2.5" and maybe if the grill could be mashed down a bit it would fit under there....
I just hate paying that restocking fee if it doesn't work.

Oh, and don't I need a connection to turn the sub off/on with the stereo? and the 12v of course... Guess I'd have to google the old install guide. I'm not super worried about it, but I'm also a fan of plug & play whenever feasable.

According to the manual, there is a remote connection. Just need to tap that onto the wiring harness - ACC (Gray). That's the on/off trigger for the sub.

I just finished off install a Bazooka on my Prius. This Boss Bass600 can be install using the same procedure as installing bazooka. ;)

I'm contemplating getting this sub for my wife's Nissan. I too am struggling with the space under that car's seat. I think I'll make a mock-up out of cardboard first to see how it fits before I order one. I hate the restocking fee too.

I know I'm a year behind this discussion, but I want to suggest removing the bolts that hold the seat in place and putting 4 washers on each bolt between the seat rail and car body. That should give you 3/8ths to a 1/2 inch.

I currently have the passenger seat out of a Nissan Versa I bought last week. The Bass600 should show up tomorrow/Monday so I can reassemble. It could easily be installed without removing the seat but I'm anal about clean installs. I built mounting hardware to hold it firmly in place. The only way that sucker is moving is if something rips the seat out! Unless I tell someone it's under there they won't know it without putting their head on the floor to look under the seat.

If the sound is as good as the reviews I will add this to a 2005 Prius, and likely raise the seat as needed like I mentioned above.

I posted this a while ago, the Boss unit has more than met my expectations. It just adds that little extra bottom end I was I was looking for. And the install whie a little invoved, woked out well !!! I went with a "BOSS 800" for the car. I did not want to really see it, just hear it. So I made Aluminum mounting blocks, and Grill Cloth covers for it, and here is the result,

This gives you access to all the controls, and wiring. The Amp itself is bolted down to the cover over the HV battery! It fits PERFECT in this location.

Put the covers back on the Sub, drop the mat back in and it is about as subtle as I can see!!!

It sounds pretty damn good!!! spent about 5 or 6 Pink Floyd songs setting it up...Holy cow my rear view mirror now vibrates and distorts the image!!!!!SWEET!!!

It fills in the bottom end that I thought was always missing!!!

For under $116.00 its an attractive price at Amazon...

I have the BASS600 mounted on top of the JBL amp. It requires removing one of the factory brackets holding the JBL amp in place, and bending the remaining bracket to make the JBL amp sit slightly lower. There's a thin metal bracket under the seat that holds clips to hold wires in place which needs to be bent up to gain a little more clearance. The BASS600 is then held in place using the hook portion of included velcro at the front of the sub enclosure to grip the carpet immediately under the passenger seat, and the hook and loop velcro to hold the back of the enclosure on top of the factory plastic shroud of the JBL amp.

I'll try to get some pictures of my setup later.
