Bosch Introduces <$450 L2 EVSE (Power Max Series) | PriusChat Bosch Power Max becomes cheapest Level 2 home EV charger at just $450
I filled out the Bosch survey and I guess they will be contacting me. Do they need to install it or can my master electrician friend do this? Also for the tax credits, does anyone know if it is a 30% federal and 50% NYS for the cost of the unit, the install, or both?
Any licensed electrician can install one of these. It's an ordinary 240V line with GFCI, at the Amperage rating of the unit (20A for a 15A unit and 40 A for a 30A unit, but electricians know that. Honestly, it's all very straightforward for them, no different than running electricity for central AC, electric dryer, hot tub, etc.
I've never seen a Bosch Level 2 charger advertised. Wouldn't waste my money on a Level 2 charger with only a 12' charge cable, unless you have a ideal location right next to where you'll park and charge.
I just ordered one and expect delivery next week. I'll keep you posted. You can use your own electrician, but the warranty will only be for 1 year. If you use a Bosch certified installer, the warranty is 3 years....but I am finding that the price is considerably higher. I am leaning towards using a local electrician and going with the 1 year.
