I Currently have a MOTO RAZR that I pair with my '06 Prius. It works great! Looking at purchasing either a Nokia 6300 or a Sony Ericsson w300i. The Nokia doesn't show on the approved list at Toyota's site. The Sony does, but not for my carrier. Has anyone had any luck pairing phones not listed on the approved list? Any luck pairing one of these 2 phones specifically? Thanks for the feedback.

Re the SE w300i, see the following post:

No clue about the 6300 since, apparently, it's not yet offered by any U.S. carrier. The mere fact that it's not on the approved list shouldn't be of too much concern, though; a lot of models aren't but still work, albeit some have limited functionality (e.g. inability to transfer contacts from the phone to the car).

This is true. My BlackBerry 8800 was not on the approved list for my previous car, but it actually worked MUCH better with the car's bluetooth system than any of the phones I had tried from their approved list :) It also works great with the Prius so far.

My suggestions is to ask the cell phone store sales guy to let you take the phone out, pair it up, and try it. That is what Cingular/AT&T did for me before I bought ny BlackBerry 8800.

Also, when you are doing this, you need to make sure and check the phone's bluetooth settings. Initially the BB 8800 would not pair up with my car, but there was a setting where I had to tell it to "trust" the car, and after I did that, it hooked up perfectly 100% of the time.

I don't think the car companies update their compatible phone lists that often, so it is usually best to just try the phone you think you want out before you buy it.

    Good luck!

Were you able to transfer you BB 8800 phone book to the Prius? If so, how?

I have a Sony Ericsson w300i and love it. It paired with the Prius with no trouble, and seems to work fine. I have been able to send contacts to the Prius phone book with no trouble. On occasion, my wife plugs hers into the AUX jack and uses it to play her MP3 files. That works fine too.
