Bluetooth "handoff" between iPhone (ios 10) and aftermarket deck

Using the iPhone (ios 10) via bluetooth audio playback the "root" folder that was last used on the iPhone is where the my Pioneer sph-da120 is pulling data/media from. This means if I was watching a video on my iPhone in a 3rd party app, this is where the Pioneer deck thinks it should be playing from when I get in my car. On the Pioneer deck you can navigate to where the deck thinks the "root" folder is, and so it then points to youtube or similar. When this happens I need to go into my phone and manually play a song, and then the "root" folder shows as my music folder.

A minor annoyance, but it seems like it should be fixable. I don't see anywhere to make the iPhone music folder the default "root" folder. Anyone else experiencing this on their decks?
