I felt like a complete dork parking next to the Insight on my way home from work today, but I couldn't resist the chance to take a few pics.

Here you go, the Blizzard Pearl next to the Spectrum White Pearl. I didn't realize the Insight also had a pearl white until today. In person, it has more of a generic bleach white compared to the Blizzard Pearl. It's nice, but not as classy in my opinion. Their pearl coat doesn't "pop" like ours does.

    Enjoy!

Nice pictures! I noticed that you have on the bumper of your car the vinyl 'Prius' protector. Did you get that from the dealer or PC? As well, did you install it or have someone do it for you? Lastly, what do you think of it compared to the Moulded Rubber Bumper protector you can purchase?

    Thanks!!

That is the rear bumper applique and it was installed by Toyota at the Port of Long Beach. The black bumper protector is cool, but I liked this one better. I understand why some would not want a big "Prius" script on their bumper though.

Actually, I do enjoy it. Now if you could get most of those dorky gas guzzlers out of the pictures and off the streets, so that hybrids and BEVs and efficient TDIs formed a majority, we'd be in a lot better shape.

Thanks for replying! I have had on my previous car the Rubber Bumper Protector and I found that in the Winter snow would get in behind it....thus the reason for looking at the vinyl one. But I am confused by the last part of your comment: "I understand why some would not wnat a big "Prius on their bumper though." Could you elaborate?

Nice. I believe the Insight's white is flat isn't it? Maybe I'm mistaken.

The white I2 has a little bit of a sheen to it. It's much more flat compared to the B.P. though.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that I can understand why some people would think that the big "Prius" script on the rear bumper applique is sort of gaudy, or simply not like the way it looks.

I wish Toyota would still offer just plain flat white. I wonder what NYC and other government bodies will order for their fleets? I can't see them spending extra for the Blizzard Pearl. Perhaps Toyota will still offer plain white for fleet purchasers?

Now that I think about it, I believe I can answer my own question. Toyota probably will sell fleets any color they desire.....I just remembered seeing yellow taxi Priuses, a color not available otherwise.

The straight on side shot is interesting. Prius moved that highest point back slightly to increase headroom - Insight is still forward. IMO the Honda just looks smaller (duh) but I have to say I rather prefer it's rear-end to the Prius. Just an opinion - not a challenge! :)

I'm more of a "headlights" kinda guy

Give me the Prius LED lights anyday! :cheer2:

P.S. I do realize this Prius has the non-LED, but even those look sharp!

Thanks Lafferty, I enjoyed comparing the two cars side by side.
The Prius looks quite a bit taller than the Insight in the photos. It also looks like it has a lot more sheet metal; so much so that 'turtle' came to mind. I had a similar impression of a lot of sheet metal in the front view bumper area when I visited the G3 at the dealer. I thought of Darth Vader's mask.

Don't take these comments negatively -- overall I think the G3 looks quite nice.

That's up to the taxi company to spray paint it in their own colours. They'll usually buy a silver car (since it's the most popular car so they can grab one off the lot) and re-paint it.

I was struck by how considerably larger the prius is over the insight.

    Way more than I thought.
