Blacked out all of my emblems with Plasti Dip (lots of pictures)

    Hey guys, I don't have a lot of time to write a lengthy thread. However, I followed the directions over here in the Second Generation Forum (LINK). I didn't wait as long as I should have (to let it dry between layers) because I was under time restrictions while doing this, but it still came out great!

    Enjoy the pictures. Maybe it'll help some of you decide if you want to do it.

    How well does the plastidip hold up on car washes by hand and or by machine?

    So far it seems to be doing pretty well. I just go gentle over the spots. It's quite hard to take off with tweezers and takes quite a bit of rubbing to even start taking it off. I say it'd be fine.

    Mine has held up well against both. I regularly take mine through a gas station car wash mid week because it gets so messy from my long commute. I've also washed it by hand myself. Ironically... my car was smashed last Friday in a car accident and the front drivers side fender has a HUGE dent... broke the emblem.. Plastidip is still intact on the Hybrid emblem.

    Process I used was Coat 1 VERY light mist doesnt cover anything really... Waited 30 min. Coat 2 laid it on nice and wet. Waited 20 minutes Coat 3 same as Coat 2. I think I did 4 or 5 coats (can't remember at this point) I did it over summer/early Fall and it still looks like day 1.

    BTW - Looks great LulzChicken! Your car is the Alabama twin of mine in the emblem dept. Except I don't have the blue heat inserts on mine anymore.

    Looks mean, I like it.

    I've got a white one just like yours.

    I was thinking it would look good with out the plastic wheel covers and just the OEM black wheels.

    Joe,

    They sell it at Home Depot and Lowes in the spray paint cage. Just ask for Plastidip.

    I got a week ago also a White Prius (2013) and I think I'm going to try this. I had all the emblems (and wheels) blacked on my previous car (Xterra).

    I haven't seen a picture of a white Prius with black (plastic dipped) wheels, have you guys seen one? How does it looks?

    You paint them on the car and then peel away the excess. Sound wrong, but it works easily. Check on YouTube.
