    wolf-one,

I also live in Oklahoma and have bought two 2008 Touring Package 6 Prius's. I have used the Internet to request quotations from numerous Dealerships both in-state and out of state. My experience has shown Tulsa Dealerships to be fairly high on their Prius quotations. Both cars I have purchased have been through Oklahoma City Toyota dealerships at substantially below MSRP ($1730 below on one and $1400 below on the other). First, I would determine the exact car, color and package you want and then send it out for quotations to the Dealership Internet Sales Manager. I bought my Driftwood Pearl Pkg 6 Touring thru Hudiburg Toyota in OKC. Hopefully, they will quote you a good price, below MSRP. Send me a PM and I will give your further details, names and numbers.

Sometimes it's not so much as "where" is the best deal, but "when" is the best deal. Dealers have monthly "quotas", i.e. a target number of vehicles that must be sold, that they need to meet so shopping at the end of the month is always better. In addition, if you are willing to accept a car that's been on the lot for awhile, perhaps a color that doesn't sell much, or whatever, that is a vehicle that a dealer wants gone. Dealers pay whats called a "floorplan". The longer a vehicle sits on the lot, the more interest they have to pay on it, meaning less profit.

OK isnt too far from Dallas. Look on craigslist there are a few dealers posted on there. One is in Mckinney.

I have a friend who specializes in finding used cars. he gets deals and sometimes wholesale costs, for those with extra inventory on new cars that are last years model. if you want info, i can give you his #. he is a real licensed dealer so before he finds you a car he will want you to sign some sort of draft and put a deposit down so he can find a vehicle that fits your criteria. He can also accept your TDI as trade in, just like any new and normal car dealer.

I forgot to mention that most cars will have a factory warranty and that he can put a 3 yr / 36k mile extended warranty on the car as well.

Go to edmunds.com for a good starting point.
There is no reason to pay more than "what others are paying".

You don't need all the extras such as undercoating.
I liked the basic package 3 because it included bluetooth for the cellphone.
Leather, if wanted, can be bought from a local shop for about thirty percent less than dealer and if you ask the dealer who does his you should get the same as the factory. The nav system isn't necessary unless you are traveling a lot out of your normal area.

If you don't like giving out your email address set up a temporary address with g-mail, hotmail or something like that.

Know what you want and let dealers bid for your business via email.

    Good luck!

i just bought another car off my friend today. its a lil 4 banger 1500 dollar corolla for my mom. he finds deals all the time and is flat out cheaper than any deal that i can find. hes good at what he does. if you look on carmax or whatever, hes way cheaper than them, and probably anyone else.
