Overpriced, no real advantage. I'm using Toyota OW20, bulk now.

Doesn't hurt. I'm even "worse", changing the oil and filter every 6 months and it's down to around 4000 km's between changes. Toyota Canada says 8000 km or 6 months, the latter governs for us. Still, at crazy low mileage the logic of sticking with such a frequent change starts to unravel, lol.

The Toyota filter's working fine for me. I doubt there's any measurable difference or advantage to others, and there could be fit problems.

For all of the above, that's just me. If you really want to baby your car, and something makes you feel you've gone the extra mile, gives you a sense of pride, that is best.

+1 on the Mobil 1 0W20 with Toyota Filter. I order the Toyota filter, crush washer and oil (in 5 quart bottles) from Amazon Prime on Wednesday, change the oil Friday after work.

Don't forget the crush washer. About 60 cents.

I use the Hopkins 10705 FloTool Giant QuickFill Funnel. It works well with the 5 quart bottle of oil.

full synthetic 0W20 of your choice (I like Mobil 1EP) every 10,000 miles OR 12 months (whichever comes first).

I've got to order a bunch of those, have some in an Amazon shopping cart, but waiting till I've enough items for free shipping still. Dealership is charging over $2 apiece for those.

Still, pretty trivial amount. And I know from experience, if I buy bulk Toyota washers, I'll be trading to a Subaru or something within 6 months, lol.

On the very rare occasion (very rare), that I buy a Toyota filter from the dealership, they always have the washer taped to the top of the filter box. Total cost for the filter at the dealership -- in "I think April of this year" was $4.xx. USD.

I don't know if they have some flunkie who tapes those washers to the top of the box so when the mechanic's grab a filter they have it handy or what, but essentially at $4 and something cents, I guess they are "giving them away."

I have a drain valve installed, so I never use the washer, but when I get it, it goes in my garage parts organizer with all the other washers I will never use.

Kinda the same here: dealerships (Toyota, Honda) will tape the drain bolt washer to the filter, for safe keeping. If they don't I'll ask. But they do it on-the-fly, and almost invariably still charge for it.

One exception, I recently needed JUST a Honda drain bolt washer (alternate oil changes are oil only): they gave me a washer and told me to get out of there, lol.

Ever try to mail anything "overseas." Yes, I know it is "just British Columbia," but centuries ago, when mail was delivered by burros, I was involved in a long-distance relationship with a Canadian woman. I don't know if things have changed since then, but mailing any sort of package to Canada was costly and you had to fill out forms with a quill pen.

I just bought two Napa Gold oil filters -- they were on a half-price deal for $3.47 each USD. Guy tried to get me to stock up on them, which is logical, but as Mendel said, the moment I do, something will happen to the Prius.

Where is the fun in letting someone know where you've taken a trip, returned home, then a week later they getting the post card?

Given the condition of the mail carriers vehicles, I believe the post office feels that you should be thankful it arrives at all.
