Battery problem?

    Hi i have a 1st gen prius. Got the triangle and check engine light which is p3006... I checked the battery all cells are above 7.5. I notice the inverter coolant is low which I'm adding some today. Even tho it was low is it supposed to be moving or is my pump out? i did not see the waves or bubbles at all. Thanks any input will be appreciated.

    sounds bad, but see if it moves after filling.

    These are two different things:

    P3006 imbalanced module-pair - the Prius measures all 38 modules in pairs and this means at least a 0.3V difference. Counting with 1 by the control electronics, list all 38 voltages and then add 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 . . . 37-38. However, these are a static measurement at one point in time. In normal operation, module voltages can vary from low 6V to a high of 8V. But a weak module will drop out first below 6V and exceed 8V on a charging, easily driving the pair over the 0.3V limit in operation.

    To measure the 19 module pair voltages, you need a Prius-aware scanner that knows how to communicate with the traction battery controller. There are several known to work: miniVCI, Scangauge II, OBD+Android, and Autoenginuity. Please search through this forum as we've given this advice many, many times before. An ordinary emissions scanner will tell you "P3006" but fails to report which of the 19 modules was off.

    Inverter coolant low - the inverter reservoir has a dam splitting the drain from the source. In operation, you can clearly see a difference if the pump is working and a little bit of turbulence. It does not cause a P3006 but leads to overheating the inverter. This in turn leads to reduced power.
