    Hi guys,

My name is Jack and I am the developer of Dr. Prius App, I finally got time and enough money to buy a used 2012 Prius Plug-in to do research on, mainly to support the "battery life expectancy test" on Plug-In as I am getting a lot of requests throughout the world.

The new release is out on Android devices (still working on iOS) and I need your help to validate the "battery life expectancy" result, I notice the temperature is affecting the test result by 1~2% on every 10 degree F, my goal is to narrow down this temperature curve in order to compensate the final result no matter how cold or hot the temperature is (from 20 degree F to 120 degree F)

If you don't already have Dr. Prius App installed, please reach out to me and I will send you a promo code to unlock test features for free. If you already have Dr. Prius App I thank you and would really appreciate if you could help me validate the result by running couple of "life expectancy test", each test should take about 15 minutes depending on the condition of your battery, please send me the result along with the year, mileage, battery temperature (can be found in monitor page)and geo-location of your vehicle to [email protected]

Really appreciate your help to make this new feature as precise as possible.

PS: I am getting consistent 89~91% capacity left on my 2012 Prius Plug-In with 85K mile @ 80 degree F battery temperature, I am at southern California where ambient temperature stay between 50~70 at this time of the year.

    Best,
    Jack

I tried your app a few months ago but it didn't support my OBDLink LX scanner, so unless something has changed since then I'm unable to use it.

Am I missing something? Your Web site does not list a PIP as supported, yet that's what you have?

I literally just finished all the research & development and pushed a new beta release out there for Android and iOS. I would wait another month to fine tune the algorithm then call it complete and update the website after.

Awesome news!!! I just looked at your list of supported vehicles. Prime isn't there. Is it coming? I'm not interested in the testing, but definitely in the monitor, codes, and customizing. I'll at least try it out on my wife's '07. (y)

OK, I tried the app again recently and it seems to work fine with my OBD2 reader.

However, the Life Expectancy test was very confusing - I didn't know what kind of environment I'd need for each step, so was unable to complete it. Is there some way we can read the instructions for every step before starting the test?

    Hi QuantumFireball,

thanks so much for the result, and NO! please don't trust the result yet as I am still fine tuning all the parameters.

What year and mileage is your Plug-In? Also what was the temperature when you run the test? I need to compensate the temperature as it is effecting the result quite a bit. Also I need to find out the lowest capacity % for a plug-in, 40% is the lowest for regular hybrid but I am not sure that apply to the plug-in, more R&D require...

I can test iOS on a 2013 Prius v wagon. I just need the code and a suggestion of which bluetooth OBDII scanner to buy for my iPhone

    Hi Punk10,

Prius V with NiMH is fully tested/adjusted, do you have the Euro spec Prius V Lithium ?

    Thanks,
    Jack

Hey jack, does this apply to the PIP only? I use your app paired to the carista OBD reader. The sync is so quick!
