Background article on gasoline

    Is this indicating that driving uphill, on a 7% grade, 'average' FE reduction is only 1.9%? Maximum reduction is only 25%?

    Sorry, but my Subaru sees at least a 50% reduction, according to ScanGauge. My Prius is much worse, due to its greater flatland efficiency. A 2001 report can be excused for missing the hybrids, but the highest efficiency non-hybrids from the 1980s should have reductions close to current hybrids.

    Or are they showing a reduction for a round trip up and down 7% grades?

    I suspect this is for non-hybrids because my gas mileage improves in congested traffic in my Prius.
