I've had my PIP for a week now, and like it a lot. My main complaint, so far, is the back-up beep, which of course does nothing for safety but distract the driver. On my 2005 Prius, which I traded for the 2012 PIP, I could go through a [somewhat complicated] procedure to disable the beep, but it doesn't work for the 2012. I know I can buy a device at Amazon that will allow me to make the change to a single beep, but does anyone know of a fix one can implement oneself? On general principles, I resist taking it into the dealership for the fix. Thanks. James
Nope, do it through a scanguage or goto the dealer... And the Scanguage can also be bought through the shop here on Priuschat. I don't use one but it serves more purpose than just removing the reverse beep. Some people love it, I just wouldn't really make use of the data it gives me.
I just posted this in another thread here this morning: http://priuschat.com/forums/toyota-...se-beep-today-serenity-now-6.html#post1552028 Like Mark said, if you wanted a Scangauge, this would be a good time to get one. Otherwise, there are a couple of other options available at a much lower cost. From what I've read in various threads on PC, some dealers will do it for free and some will not. But that is also something you can explore, especially if you have a service visit/oil change planned in the near future.
