I added a gas-shock rod to the hood my v, so I don't have to futz with the regular hood prop! It's a big improvement. Described in detail in this thread. Before I ordered this, I thought I'd need two gas shocks. But after installing one, it worked so well that I just left it. I still have my spare, along with a few ball mount brackets, which allows you a little creativity with mounting options. I paid about $20 + shipping for these parts from McMaster-Carr, and I'll sell them for $10 + shipping. Reply or PM with your zip and I'll calculate shipping - Total weight is only about a pound, but the package will be relatively long - still shouldn't be too expensive to ship.
