Auto Door Locks

Autolock doors were not a factory option on the 2006 and before, so we will need one of the owners of a new one to answer this question.

No autolock on mine, under any circumstances.

 

I have a 2007 and don't have auto locking doors. I wonder if his car has a Coastal Tech Auto Door Lock installed. http://www.coastaletech.com/auto_door_lock.htm

In the owners manual of the 2008 model there are several modes of auto lock which are in the "go to you dealer and have them do these for you" section..So far nobody has been able to get a dealer to do it..Apparently when they go to that section in the scan tool the choices are not there. One person called Toyota and they said the features were there but none of the dealers were yet trained to do it. I am hoping someone soon does get the feature enabled...

Mine is a 2007 package 2 (not touring) and my doors do not lock automatically, belt on or off prior to starting car.

I already understood the 2008's have this feature. He said his Prius was a 2007 model.

I have an 07 with the Coastal door locks and I've always had my seat belt on before I push the button and when I push itthe doors lock. I believe he says his doesn't lock with the seat belt on. This ought to be interesting when its figured out!

Interestingly the Coastal door locks for the Gen 1 Prius are designed so that when the driver fastens their seat belt the doors lock then, and unlock when the seat belt is unfastened.
