All tells Maxi app AP200 app apparently is not working across the boards and some kind of Android 11 update apparently this is affecting people across the spectrum of devices doesn't look like it's a device problem It's an Android problem so if you update or have updated your software and it's not working if you can revert to the old which can probably can't do you're screwed basically my white AP200 is a brick as of right now the AP 2500 works but it has no brake bleeding capability and other things so it's just a piece of well trash I guess anyway I do have Toyotas software so it's not a huge issue for me but just letting any of y'all know if you haven't seen it yet and maybe issues.

Well, I get a "server communication failure" message when I try to login to my account. Since it's the same on two phones with different android versions, I'll assume there's a problem on Autel's end of things.

update, tried logging in on my pc and it errored there as well, so autel has a problem

Remove the Autel app then reinstall it on your phone - see what that does.

Yeah that's what autel. Said on the phone of course that's what you always do with anything computer remove and reinstall it It was all working fine until their Android 11 update of some sort I didn't even notice it come in Don't really care. Just interesting that this thing is bricked and it's not even 60 days old but that's cool this is typical marketing in America today this is what we get this is what we settle for I have the Toyota software so not a big deal was just easier not to have to drag a laptop out thank God I haven't wasted my time with the 808 or at 900 series or any of that because that's a disaster waiting to happen subscription shit and all that mess. But I do have a Windows tablet just an 8 GB piece of junk I'll try to put the software on it and see if that will make a difference I'm sure it will run in windows but I'm not doubting at all because if they can't get that basic part down they can't sell anything. But I did find it portable windows doodad that I have so that could possibly work Just a real pain that it doesn't work on the phone which is what it was purchased for.

I did the download and redownload on the phone but I kept the 109 MB file because it looks like I may not be able to get that back if they screw me around I'd like to see the software that you downloaded from the alltel site for Windows I downloaded the Maxi something diagnostic software for my Windows 10 tablet and it is on there and it opens and it tells me that it can't see my AP200 but yet in my Bluetooth menu the AP200 with my serial number is showing and paired alltel is telling me that the AP200 should not work in Windows at all I told them I thought one of my people on the chat was using just that but I don't know this for a fact and don't really care I just want my device unbrick and working like it was when I took it out of the package The green light comes on everything is happening it's paired to my phone the Maxi app will not open it goes from the small icon on the desktop if you will and largest to full screen and drops back down to the icon immediately like it can't be red or can open or whatever and so that's where we are with this I asked the dude directly at all tell is my device bricked have you turned it off screwed it up done something because you don't like my last name or I stuck it in too many cars or what he said No it can't do that That's not a thing I said well I got this brick sitting right here that I need you to get straightened out before the new year buddy You know what I mean I'm not blaming you but my God I'm talking to you jockeying a desk and you have to go talk to the team and then they have to all powwow it's turning into a real jigga mess so this is why I was skeptical about buying from this company thank God this is a $63 device and not a thousand plus you know because that's how these companies do you this is the way of the modern purchasing experience in our country now buffoonery.

Yes the AP200 just Bluetooth to your phone which has the Maxi AP200 app on it and hopefully open and then 109 MB green file automatically opens with the AP200 app so you can bleed brakes and do all things Toyota It does not need to be online so if your phone is not connected to the internet you can still Bluetooth to the AP200 plugged into your OBD2 port and still use the software because it doesn't have to be online I don't think it's not using any data when I was using it before out of the box It didn't seem to need anything because I had the data file for the Toyota which I selected at purchased or it set up and then the maxi app on the device and I don't have another Android device like to try the app on apparently by looking online they did some kind of Android 11 update and everybody's been screwed since or many people have been screwed since basic bricks.

It depends. Occasionally the app wants me to login to the account (Autel's server) before it lets me do anything.

So no login, no work. If you've logged in sometime in the past few weeks (months?), it works fine without a network.

Even though the first car brand you get is "free", apparently you still don't "own" it, as the app has you check in with Autel periodically.

When the app opens in Android 11 or whatever or opened in 10 like it did a few weeks ago I always had to log in I think I put my email address in the password that I selected and it won't remember it the stupid thing and then hit go and that's that I don't think it has to be online per se but maybe so and how you're making this work and windows 11 the company says predominantly not possible I have it loaded on Windows 11 tablet and I can open the alltel Maxi app or whatever this business of theirs I'm using but. My Bluetooth is on on the Windows tablet My CAP device is seen in Bluetooth and is paired that's part of the serial number of the stupid AP200 but on the tablet the Maxi app can't see the Bluetooth AP200 it just sits there and I think it's a red window that says you're not connected to your Bluetooth device but it's paired to my windows and I see it in the Bluetooth devices so there's always that but it looks like it could work. But yeah every time even the AP2500 when I open that app you have to sign you know the first thing you do is sign in and then the app opens and you connect to the VCI or the device under the dash and then you read the codes and then with the $2,500 you don't do anything else there's no maintenance or anything just cheap junk.

Crap. What a nightmare trying to find a DIY solution to do all these functions.

I was really looking at getting an Autel AP200, but with an iPhone, I can only imagine how screwed up the software updates could become. I use a scanguage currently (and that's been good for codes, and clearing codes, as well as monitoring temps and seeing my real speed mph...which is 2-3 mph different from dash).

I have Dr. Prius to do HV Battery check, but was recently thinking I'd like to do my own brake flush, etc, etc since a shop recently did it and I'm not convinced they used Techstream and flushed all the system components. I don't fully understand the brake flush DIY, but seems to me that most recommend DIY is fine, but it seems that you don't get all components flushed / valves actuated. Nevertheless, replacing most (? 70%) of brake fluid would be fine for preventing corrosion, and could just flush lines a bit more often. I feel comfortable using a vacuum pump on bleeder fittings and doing in the right order, etc. Anyway, it just seems crappy to put my car into a shop where I get to see nothing, they assure me they use Techstream (Tucson Hybrids...so seems like they'd almost certainly have the capability/hardware), and they assure me they use Toyota DOT3 fluid....but I don't know for sure. $130 isn't too bad (Dealership wanted $165) but next time, I'd like to just DIY. I'd also like to be able to check my MAF for real-time data A/F ratios...as efficiency and knock-inhibition might be affected by a MAF with some variation, but just not significant enough malfunction to show up on the o2 sensor monitoring. I cleaned my MAF maybe too much ??? (just know that these things are really delicate and didn't realize that cleaning too much could hurt it....I did use MAF cleaner, at least). Had P0171 (lean condition) code after cleaning EGR/Throttle body/intake...but used my old intake gasket, since I'd forgotten to get a new one. Had to take it all apart when code recurred a few times, and put in a new intake gasket. No code now, so likely MAF is fine...but would be good to be able to see live data.

Can't figure out if AutelAP200 is best vs trying to figure out a way to get Techstream "cheaply" (eBay has Panasonic Toughbook for about $110, but no dongle and no Techstream loaded):

Then there are aftermarket dongles that supposedly have a way to get Techstream:

Anyone know about this? Anyone have any experience getting Techstream to work and these VCI cables?

I've used Mac exclusively for many, many years, and tried getting a Virtual Box (VM software) to run so that I could try to run Techstream with my mac laptop. That turned into a no-go, so I thought (particularly in the shop and with oil/grease/tools/etc) it'd be better to just get a Windows laptop at a thrift store or eBay to run techstream and keep my Mac away.

Seems like the Autel AP200 can do the brake flushes and most other stuff, so that seems like a simpler solution...but with the issues with the MaxiAP app (has an average 2-star rating on Apple App store and many comments on how crappy the app is)...maybe Techstream is a better option.

Input is much appreciated. Anyone with knowledge of these things or anyone in Arizona with a Prius and Techstream that does DIY, I'd sure like to learn!

I had trouble with my pixel because it's running Android 14 The AP200 does not support that I moved the mess over to an old iPad downloaded the maxi app and have had no problems using the old iPad and then I have an old tablet that's Android 12 I think it's a blue 8-in tablet and it works flawlessly with the AP200. But I noticed sometimes they are communication problems but I don't think it's necessarily the AP200 sometimes there's glitches in the car or something but that's just the way it is when it connects it seems to work very well with the iPad and with the tablet with Android 12 or less. So I've been using it that way I do also own a dealer toughbook with the Toyota TIS network and pre-installed on it and loaded with updates that went through late 2022 I think something like that I don't have an access but I have a friend who works in the parts department and I can get his login when I need it which is basically been never but oh well.

Thanks 2, I think I'll get an AP200 as I have an old iPad I can run the app on, and the old iPad is perfect for shop use. Good to hear yours works well...especially considering you have access to Techstream and don't bother using it.

I do everything I can to not have to drag out the tough book and the dongle to use text dream if it all possible
