    The battery charge display question.

    Car: Toyota Prius Prime 2021.
The battery charge display does not seem to work as the manual says it should.

On page264 it describes how to view the audio information screen
for the state of the battery. Press Menu, Info then Eco to get to
the energy display page. The window shows the 4 tires and what is
going on with the charge flows.

The battery part has different ways of displaying according to what
is going on. The battery is divided into several sections. The page
gives information about 5 battery states according to what bars
on the display are lit or not lit.

My battery indicator always show all the sections lit. There is never
any that are not lit. That does not seem to be what the manual shows.
They show sections that are not lit.

The manual page is in black and white so I don’t know if they intended
to be describing the yellow display only i.e. the EV battery. When charging
the display is blue. When discharging the display is yellow. My display
shows a all the section lit when charging or discharging. I ran the EV battery
out so ran the car on “normal”. The battery display never had any sections
    that were not lit.

Does anyone know if the display should really work as it says on page 264
or is it a mistake in the manual? I was thinking it may have been the way
things works in Prime models before 2021. ?

Any information about this would be appreciated.

Yeah this is the part that bugs me too. The battery shown in the Energy Monitor screen (both on the 4.2” MID and the large 11.6” MFD) doesn’t move. It just shows a generic battery. You have to use the HSI (Hybrid System Indicator) screen on the battery meter screen next to the speedo to show the actual battery SOC.

So, no, your display isn’t malfunctioning. It works this way on mine too (2018 model).

Interesting. I thought maybe the display worked as the manual said on prior models but they kept the manual about the battery in by mistake. I guess not as yours is a 2018 unless mine and yours are both broken in the same way. I hope some others update the post with what they see.
