How much would it cost to have it installed ? ... I mean if you knew someone ? My friend / personal mechanic is the best, and my car maintenance savior, but I'm not sure if he would be down with a high voltage job like this.
it's a pretty easy job. he should be willing to do it for a couple hundred bucks. you can find video's showing how quickly an experienced mech can do it. regarding greentech, you'd be better off with a 'newpriusbattery' from one of our members, 2k1toaster for $1,600. regarding a new oem warranty, you may only get one year, but you will get 10 years of troublefree service.
Thank you for that info. Only thing though, 10 years of use for a lot of people, might be 2 or 3 years for me. If my 2019 is still on the road in 4 or 5 years, it's going to have 250K+ miles on it.
It seems like the years do more harm than the miles (although both have an impact), so you are probably OK in that regard.
in that case, i would get the green tech as an experiment, and hope theyre still in business if you need them
If your 2019 is still on the road in 4 or 5 years time (and why wouldn't it be?), I'd start looking at options then. In the meantime, I wouldn't be wasting my time and energy on a non-problem.
