I may have asked a similar question a long time ago, but I see so many changes in LED technology that I thought I'd ask again. My Prius has the kit shown in the Prius store, they have 55w H11 Halogens in them. Is there a new style LED that I can plug in to replace the existing bulbs that would be visible in the daylight? I see the new Prii have LED DRL's too bad they won't retro fit my 2011... Thanks in advance!
These are beauties. I installed them in my car a few weeks ago. They're much brighter than stock halogen fogs. 18W High Power OEM-Style Fog Lights Assy For Lexus Toyota Scion
Thanks a lot for the info, glad I asked about them. Are they just bright but really don't put any useable light on the road? Or can you actually use them to see the road? By accident I have only had my 55W fogs on thinking for a moment had my headlights on... that's why I ask. Regards
Reading the comments in pauerbach's link, I kinda like: "defiantly a good buy...". I'd just echo ES44AC concerns: are they effective, an improvement on the OEM, throw more light on the ground? (Not that that would be much of a stretch.) The comments on the whole seem to regard appearance, not effectiveness.
If you're looking to spend more, these are projector-lens fogs. They'll keep the light focused down on the road. I haven't tried them myself. I didn't really want to spend the extra $90. The choice is yours. OEM Style CREE High Power LED DRL Fog Lamps For Lexus Toyota Scion
How about Valenti LED DRL integrated Projector Fog? DRL part is 3W/each side. Projector fog is 6W/each side http://www.valentijapan.com/products/jewel_fog_day_kit.html
The RetroFit Source has led lamps for the prius family. they are very bright with a great cutoff. Morimoto XB LED Fog lights
Even with Xenon, I'm having trouble picturing an 18 watt incandescent bulb putting much light on the road. It should be fine for a running light.
