Are replaced head gaskets any better than OEM?

    Looks like the 3rd gen I bought has had the head gasket already replaced.

    Are the new replacements any better than the OE ones? Do I still need to be super anal about the EGR? Are there better aftermarket replacements or abatements for the EGR cooler that reduce the likelihood of failure?
