Are any body kits more aerodynamic than OEM?

    I have a Japanese magazine full of body kits for the NVW20, 30 and 40 (and 5-seater 41) Prius. Many of them are built for style. What isn't clear is if any of them have been designed and tested aerodynamically.

    Are there any body kits [let's start with any car, not just the Prius NVW 30] that have been independently verified to show improvement in aerodynamic efficiency?

    My suspicion is that many body kits are designed by best guess and with an eye on style and what will fit, rather than rigorous testing.

    Hi Braddles, I believe Five Axis has done research on the air flow of their application, not only appearance. It does look like a complete package. See it here:

    Then it looks like any subtle body kit will do a similar job. The Five Axis kit doesn't seem to be radically different to one that I should be able to find in Australia.
