Just took a Vegas trip with my new gen III Prius Persona. I noticed that when I would set the cruise control, the engine would surge, like the gas pedal was suddenly pressed. My last car, a Honda Accord, would do something like this every once in a while... if I was on an incline or something it seemed to confuse the CC. But I got this surge almost every time I engaged the CC on the prius. This happen to anyone else? Normal or no?
Yes, normal. If you have the pedal depressed when you engage and then let off, the ECU thinks you still want to control the situation (I guess) and there is a delay. Try engaging with your foot just starting to come off the pedal... should be a smooth transition.
