Anyone name the female voice on the NAV system?

On airplanes, we usually call the female voice "bitching betty", because she is always bitching at you about something or another: "Engine fire left, engine fire right, hydraulic failure, master caution...", all in a sweet, soothing voice. There must be a good name for our NAV lady. My wife thinks "Belle or Bella", since a little bell accompanies her voice prompts.

    Any suggestions?

When I picked up my '06 on April 1st I had a friend visiting from Baltimore. She named my NAV voice "Sheila" and that has stuck. Another friend had previously named my iPAQ with NAVMAN bluetooth GPS voice "Millie".

Actually I miss Millie; I had installed the UK version of the software, and she had the most beautiful British accent. Plus, she'd say stuff like "at the roundabout take the 3rd exit", rather than Sheila's mundane talk of a "traffic circle". Anyone know how to hack the voice?

We tried Priscilla since she gets a bit prissy at times. Didn't really stick, though.

Well, there is the traditional "digi-bitch"

But I just turned as much of her "off" as I can, and don't listen to the rest. So what else is new, guys?

After trying to drive the most efficient route while the nav system kept trying to get us to turn around my partner named her the "Map Nazi". The name seems to have stuck.

That's funny my old iQue is the "Nav Nazi" . She got her name on a 3 week long fishing trip in Montana all over the place. 4 guys in the car driving from river to river and one "Nav Nazi" leading the way!

In February, a friend of mine and I went to see Phil Lesh (formerly of the Grateful Dead, for you
non-Deadheads). Joan Osbourne is singing with his band, and let me tell you,
she is great. So anyway, we're leaving the concert, and as downtown
Providence can be a bit tricky I put on the NAV and said, "Home." But my
friend Joe is saying, "no, turn right" when the NAV lady says "turn left."
So I say, "what, you think you know more than...", and I realized that I've
personalized the NAV lady so I really need to give her a name! Since Joe and
I had just had a conversation about how hot Joan Osbourne was, we both said
at once, "Joan!" So my "NAV lady" is now called "Joan."

I started naming my car, as well as the Nav Lady, Priuscilla (or Priscilla in short), and that eventually got shortened to Prissy, and for my car the name stuck. Both my best friend and my girlfriend call her Prissy.

Anybody remember that car rental commercial where the girl behind the counter says to the business traveller: "Here's the keys to your two door speck, Mr. Jones," and the guy drives off in that teensy weensy car?

Reminded of that commercial, I suggested that our black Prius looked like a "four door Speck." My wife didn't agree, because she thought it was pretty roomy, and so I joked that it was a big speck, a 'Dot.' That name is actually starting to stick now, both for the car and the Nav Lady: "Dot" or "Dotty", short for Dorothy.

Mine is usually called anything that sounds like a name a 70 year old librarian would have.

Doris, Daloris, Mae, Phyllis, Dottie etc...

I remember two names that were kicked around when the 2002 prius came out with the nav option, Nav Lady and Ann Landers of Nav (always given advice) you can (if you dare) checkout the yahoo group toyota-prius.

Last year, I named ours Lola based on the song that goes "Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets."

I recently saw a trailer for the movie "RV" where Robin Williams had the RV balanced precariously on a mountaintop. When the nav system told him that he was not on any designated route, he replied "I know that Lola." Gave me a good laugh.

:D My NAV LADY is named ERNESTINE after Lili Tomlin's telephone operator character from LaughIn years ago.

When I pose a verbal question or request, ERNESTINE sometimes responds in unrelated, strange ways. Like, I say: "GO HOME" and ERNESTINE responds "SHOWING BARBERSHOP ICONS" or "SHOWING POST OFFICE ICONS" or sometimes even "SETTING HOME AS DESTINATION." Those responses reminded me of Lili Tomlin's "HAVE I REACHED THE PARTY TO WHOM I AM SPEAKING?" and her other similar dialogue.
