Anyone Installed Roadwire Leather Kit?

Just read the Bartlett thread and you'll be fine. Block off a day of work before or after the weekend to give yourself plenty of time to complete the project.
Do yourself a favor and buy some zip ties too....
I used the hog rings, but the zips helped to stretch things into place, before I could apply the ring.

Can you take before and after shots? I'm looking to get some leather covers also!!! I rather go with a big company then going on ebay from an unknown upholstery shop. Also do you mind telling me how much you paid?

 

If you have someone to help, I found when installing the Bartlett leather that having someone to tuck the covers down to get the hog rings in place was IMMENSELY helpful, and saves having to use the zip ties.

For the front seats, it seems that most people have had trouble avoiding the breaking of certain clips. But in the Bartlett Corporation thread, I posted prius2go's photo and advice about finding and unscrewing a certain screw in the seats which would enable you to work on the seats without breaking those clips.

Boo is right - check the pics to find the hidden screws. Also, check the Bartlett thread and find the .pdf file that contains the Toyota instructions (if you haven't already).

Yes, cutting all 200 or so of those hogrings in the back and replacing them is a pain in the hands! The Bartlett leather also required reusing all the "coat hanger wires" from the cloth upholstry.

Good luck on the fronts, and be sure to post some pics! Yours will be decidedly more custom than our Bartlett leather, which is basically factory leather.

 

Yes, leather installs can be allot of work. We do them daily for four local major dealerships (Nissan, Mazda, Chevrolet, and Hyundai). My lead upholsteror has done leather and interiors for over 12 years and it amazes me to this day how he can get 2-3 complete leather conversions done PER DAY! It is absolutely amazing.

As far as hogrings, he actually has a pneumatic hogring installer. It is pretty cool but runs about $400 new. Definitely not for the "one use" installation. If you really get bound up, drop us an email and I can give you some direction. Basically, take your time, and don't rush it. If you have access to a steamer, it will help a ton. It allows you to heat the leather and stretch it a little more to achieve a "tighter" initial install. Once the leather relaxes and the sun heats it a few times, there will be zero wrinkles.

We have used Roadwire prodominately for many years and they are great kits. Quality is good and we have never really had any huge fitament problems. Keep us posted!

 

Looks pretty good! When we are installing the leather, we keep steamers on all the time. The leather is pre-steamed before installing, then steamed once it is fitted. Many times before we return it to the dealership if it is being delivered to the customer immediately, we will even leave it running out in the sun with the heater on full blast. Then they gently "beat" the leather wrinkles a little and it is completely smooth for the customer. But, as long as the hog rings were installed in the correct spots, the wrinkles will work their way out eventually anyway.

What is the labor for a typical Civic install?

 

The two door Civic's are generally around $400 in labor only, and the four door Civic's are generally around $500 in labor only (there are two extra door panels to cover on the four door cars). That number is pretty typical for most any two-door or four-door car.

But, we never really get a labor only job as most customers don't really buy the leather kits themselves. They generally come in and pick the patterns/materials and the other options then we order them in for install in the next day or two.

Time-wise, Civic's are about average taking maybe 3-4 hours including removal and re-installation of interior.

 

With a sandstone/tan type color for a 4 door hybrid civic what would be the total cost/ Might plan this on my next trip to see the kids.
I have a white 2007 with light tan/sandstone interior.

 

Basic 4 door sedans are usually $1200 to $1400. However, if you are working it in with a family trip, I would be willing to do it for $999 installed. Always cool to claim people drive from all over the country for our services!
