You know you can get on Amazon for about $20 then you need a computer. Everyone says laptop but I put an old desktop on the front seat, works for me.

...by the way, there is always the black tape method to blackout the light, on Gen2 anyways

Yeah unfortunately all my Computers have Windows 7-10 and it seems like a pretty difficult issue to get the techstream loaded... at least it over my head! lol...

How can a tire shop replace a tpms sensor and not program it to the car? It sounds absurd

I just got new wheels and tires, and I'm having the same issue.

@Jerbear949 - if you find someone, I'd like to get my TPMS serial number added to my Prius as well.

@JC91006 - Apparently you need Techstream software to add the new TPMS serial number to the list of supported TPMS's in the Prius. And not all tire shops have this software, as it is Toyota specific. I found this info on: How to get TPMS to relearn with new sensors | PriusChat

I'm sure there are apps available for your smart phone to connect to the car to add tpms. It's such a basic thing to do nowadays.

Techstream is the cheapest and most complete tool if using the minivci option.

If there are smart phone options that would be great! I'll look into it. It'll eliminate the need to find someone with Techstream or buying the software on my own.

I have a thread over on on Gen2 about using Techstream to manage TPMS.

I paid $40 for my Techstream from China via EBay- was supposed to work for Windows 7/8 etc.
However, I was shocked to find my spare DELL Vista OS computer was actually XP3 32bit so I did not try the Win7 install yet.
