I had planned on trading in my 05 for the 2010 next year. Now with the economy the way it is and gas prices crazy low, I'm not so sure. I know it's about more than the mpgs, but it seemed easier to justify the expense when gas was nearing $4/gallon. What is everyone else thinking? Are you going for the 2010 or have you decided to wait a year or two?

Ours is an 08 and we plan on getting a 2010. I have talked with our dealer to be notified as soon as one can be ordered.

haha no. Cause even if gas is 50¢/litre, I'm spending peanuts on filling the tank. Sure the actual difference is small (per tank compared to other cars) when fuel is cheaper but we know it's not going to stay this low for very long. It will go back up to $1/litre (or I guess in your case $4/gal).

I mentioned this in another thread. My dealer told me the other day he expected the 2010 Prius in by next summer, and that it would not be a plug-in.

If I could sell Priapus for more than $20,000 then I would consider it. If I could get $25,000 than I wouldn't hesitate.

Shoot, I even already have spousal permission. :)

Actually, I'm looking at selling my 2005 with HOV stickers and getting a 2009.

I don't like the newly designed interior of the 2010 so 2009 is my last chance.

Barring a traffic accident I plan on holding onto mine until 2017 (Should have about 250,000 miles by then)

I hope to get a 2010 as soon as they are available.

Not for me, but my DH really likes the interior shots of the 2010... and his Buick is starting to give us a bit of trouble (she is 16 years old, after all).
A lot will depend on work situations, and how the rest of our financial picture is at the time. We paid cash for Rudy, and we are loathe to get into a car payment situation.

I have no need for a 2010. Our 2006 is in great shape, and I'm sure it will be good for several more years. That said, I would like to have a 2010, since I'm all about new technology and gee whiz features. For me it will come down to the price differential that determines my out of pocket expense. If I can get enough for the 2006, I will probably trade to the new one.

When I saw the spy shot of the 2010 interior, I didn't like it too. After seeing all the screen shots that were leaked, I am starting to like it. I will reserve my final judgment until I sit inside one and test drive it.

I plan to upgrade but the question is... how long can I resist. :)

Lucky for me, I don't need them. I'm one of the few that have already been through the upgrade process after waiting years for a new model to arrive. So, I'm definitely ready and will hopefully be the first new model delivery at my dealer (again). Bring it on!

I'm not too enamored with the shots of the interior I've seen. It looks to me like the center console takes up too much valuable space. I do like the front end treatment, though. We'll see how it goes, but I suspect my 2k5 Prius will still have under 50K miles by the time they roll out.

I doubt if I'll drop the cash on one, especially the first year.

The decision is a little easier for me. I have to wait till the 2001 dies. It looks like everyone else is wanting to trade in a perfectly good vehicle.

Assuming my wife's car will last another year, she's looking forward to test driving the 2010 and seeing what she thinks. She is, for sure, not purchasing a non-hybrid as her next car.

I just purchased a 2007, though I want the 2010 really bad, if it's not a plug-in I will stick it out until it is. It's a lot easier to wait, now that I am rid of the GMC Sonoma and have the Prius. Glee!

Toyota helped encourage that in the early years, knowing that there would be a strong market for used ones too.

I'd love to have a new Gen 3 but I think I'll wait for a few more years barring some unforeseen lottery win. My 2005 just turned 3 y.o. @ 97,000 miles so I also have this urge to drive it beyond 250,000 miles just because I can. It's in great shape despite being hit twice so I don't foresee any problems over the next 3 yrs and 100K+ miles.

My spousal unit greatly dislikes the cockpit look of the 2010 with the full center console, and does not like the shifter placement, so we went forward with a 2009, which with our 2007 yields our Prius fleet.
