Nope...the only way my job could be dangerous would be if a bookcase or filing cabinet fell on top of me. The joys of working an office job. But I love it!
Well, I operate a giant laser machine for a living. If I don't wear my face shield, I 'catch' eye cancer or something. Not going to make the most dangerous jobs list anytime soon, but I consider it an awful scary risk
Software engineers: pretty far down on the "danger" list. (Though I do work around high current sometimes, when testing the instruments.)
I'm on number 1, 3 and 4 and 7. Fishing, transport, roofing AND construction. How log do you think I am going to live?
Kind of busts some misconceptions. Everyone thinks my job (police) is sooooooo dangerous. However, this listing is just about fatalities. Kind of hard to just get "hurt" in a plane crash. It also makes a difference when you have a job where people are INTENTIONALLY trying to hurt you!
I'm in the paving buisiness. About 2 years ago there was a guy that got caught in the tracks of a paving machine and they didn't nitce until the roller operator came along and saw him squished into the pavement, he knew what it was because he had seen it happen before. That same year a woman that was a flagger got backed over by a dump truck.
hmmm... i do not know...i have seen SEVERAL lists that has Alaska Crab fishing being dangerous by more than a 3 to 1 margin over any other occupation. but as far as im concerned... my job is way more hazardous (helping customers understand LOW tech...) hazards come from self inflicted wounds from frustration...hehehe
My only danger is the drive to and from work. And also working two jobs by myself is dangerous to my social well being.
Computer Engineers are at high risk for heart disease. (Dang, I'm Debbie Downer!) Time to work on that New Year's Resolution! I'm going to get down to a lean 250 lbs this year. Nate
Took a bank job at a corporate office, you know didnt like the idea of being held at gun point during a robbery if i worked at a branch office... now I average about 4 death threats a month and 1 restraining order placed against one of my wonderful clients a month... for those who might think I am in collections i am not and in fact I get to deal with the most escalated of issues and even average $3000-6000 a month in courtesy refunds I still get some pretty unpleasant people. <sigh> Fortunatly I work in a secured facility with a couple very good police officers who keep an eye out for trouble. So far 5 years and no realized attacks. Fortunatly there are a lot of good people out there that I get to help but never thought I would have to worry about this stuff working in a corporate office. Thanks for the thread after my day it was a fun place to vent
Spent twenty years as a navy pilot. Much of that time was flying off carriers. Two tours in Vietnam. But, the most dangerous time was when I was a flight deck officer on a carrier. Much of my time there was on the flight deck during air ops. Unfortunately, two of my men were killed walking into propellers.
My job didn't make the list. However, I have seen other lists that do have Firefighter near the top. For fun I fly Hot-air Balloons.
I guess you weren't too bold! I think I prefer a runway that's not moving! Air Force - one tour. Definitely a dangerous time. Glad we both lived to talk about it.
President of the United States is probably the most dangerous....four presidents have been assassinated while in office, and we're only on president number 43. I work on combat aircraft with live ordnance, jection seats, chaff and flares, high power RF transmitters.....but we get uber-extensive safety training, so it's not that dangerous. I suppose I could get shot at, though.
