I thought this may have already been covered here, but I can't find anything after a search. Anybody have experience with a car duster? (For the exterior--something like this: OXO Car Duster.) I have a black '05 that I'd like to keep looking as sharp as possible, and this seemed like the kind of thing that might get rid of the road dust between washings. However, it's hard for me to believe that this kind of thing wouldn't scratch the paint. Phil
Hmm. I wash weekly and have a good coat of wax and I don't pick up too much dust... Maybe it's just my location that does it. I don't know.
I don't know about this particular one, but I use a California Duster on my blue 350Z. It works great for removing LIGHT dust from an otherwise CLEAN car without scratching. These are available online or at auto parts stores. However, some stores sell a cheaper (and less effective) model that has shorter hairs. The one I have is called the "original" California Duster. I don't use it on my white Prius because it doesn't really show the dust like my blue Z does.
I too use the California Duster and it works great on my Black Prius. Since I park my car in the garage, lightly dusting my car off in the morning usually leaves it very clean throughout the week. If I happen to leave it out during the night, the dew seems to collect and amplify the dust visibility. So, of course, smearing it around doesn't look very nice. I usually try to wash the car once a week anyway. I also use a mini California Duster for the dash.
