On the way home from work today I noticed what I thought was a spot on the button of the lower glove box. I reached over to flick it off and discovered that the "spot" was really the black plastic of the button and the paint was coming off. I knew there was a problem with the area along the windows if you have suntan lotion, but it didn't occur to me that the button was painted too.

I scraped most of it off with my fingernail as a black button doesn't look all that bad. It just surprised me.

Is it possible to remove all the burgundy paint to reveal the black plastic underneath so you wouldn't have to worry about paint coming off anymore? Also, the black would look nice. This is for the cars with the grey interior.

    "lower glove box"??

Do you mean there's an UPPER glove box too?.
Hmmm...I'm going to have to run out and look at my car. I haven't had it that long but if there's another glove box I didn't notice I know it'll just bother me until tomorrow so I'd better go look now.

    :)

Yep, upper glove box, and don't forget the little drawer at the bottom of the center console.

Actually yes I did. I've read about that a lot here at PC. I've been reading through the forums here for about 3 weeks before we went out and bought the Prius so I definitely knew about the supersecretdrawer. I think the upper glove box thing is so obvious nobody ever bothered mentioning it. I just never bothered pushing that thing (that looks remarkably like a button) above the button (that looks the same) for the lower glove box.

I feel like I've just discovered that the Prius has windows on BOTH sides of the car. lol

A little public humiliation is good for the soul
    (I keep telling myself)

Maybe I'll discover something else later in the week.
