if it wasn't for bad luck.... I'd have no luck at all.. Stopped at a traffic light... 5 feet one way it woudl have been on me....5 feet the other way it would have been on the car behind me...
That's awful my friend. Looks totaled. Well, look at it this way, your alive!! Let us know what ends up happening. Where did this happen? Remember after something tragic happens, something good always follows
Beside the bad circumstances, you may be entitled for a brand new vehicle exchange depending on your insurance Co.
Happened on 123 near chain bridge just outside of DC pretty crappy since i haven't had the car for very long... 2010 wih 49Kon the clock...not getting a new car I have USAA and they are pretty fair..
At least you're okay! Sucks with the condition your Prius is in. Not the kind of tree-hugging we want.
Darn Tree-Hugging Prius Driver..... (EDIT... %$#@! somebody beat me) I'm sorry for the not-quite-an-accident, but I'm glad that you're OK enough to pose for the last picture. One large branch plus a little forward velocity could have turned a bad day into a REALLY bad day. It's not going to be close to totaled, unfortunately and now you've got a really good excuse to keep the car and join (or affirm your membership in) the Lunar Mileage Club. I've got USAA as well and although I haven't had to file a claim (yet) they've got a good rep. Good Luck!
ETC. Been with USAA 22 years... If they don't total the car I will be very surprised. the rear roof line is trashed in three places and the right rear tire has about 2" of negative camber. FWD velocity would have been good as then I would not have been under the tree. if I had stopped for the traffic light 5 feet further forward....no damage. 5' further back... it would have landed on my head. had I left 5 minutes later... gotten caught by another traffic light...gone the speed limit.... a whole bunch of what-ifs....
Yeah, well you're not being fitted for a pine box, so most of the important "what-ifs" have been asked and answered. Good Luck. Keep us informed.
What a bummer!!! I'm just glad to see you didn't suffer any bodily harm. The car can be replaced. I just hope that you don't have to suffer any insurance trauma.
I'm more of a cremation kinda guy... Started looking at cars.com already... some promising stuff.. gonna keep my weather techs, and sharkfin some good deals under 20K with low miles..
Makes me think back to those early Gen 3 Prius commercials with the folk music and the numerous felt costumed "tree's" happily swaying as the Prius drove by....."Harmony between Man, Nature and Machine". Guess nature struck back with a wicked vengeance. Well it does seem YOU survived unscathed. And yep...that's the key to the possibility of further driving enjoyment.
Wow! ..and BTW - did you ever modify the shifter with LEDs like you had planned, before this happened? Glad you're OK. I know the exact spot. Funny - this morning's weather, although wet, wasn't breezy. I guess it must have been a previously weakened tree.
