AJR 74 which reads in part: "That the President and the Congress of the United States of America are urged to take legislative action to allow single-occupant hybrid electric vehicles that achieve a fuel economy highway rating of at least 45 miles per gallon, and conform to any additional emissions category of the federal Environmental Protection Agency or the California Air Resources Board, or meet any other requirements identified by the responsible agency, to travel in California's High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes..." passed the California Assembly on 5-17-04 and was sent to the California Senate for action. This bill basically is a companion bill to AB2628 (allows for single occupant usage of the HOV lanes by Prius and Civic Hybrid vehicles) which has previously passed the Assembly and is also in the Senate. Contact you state Senator and urge passage of both AB2628 and AJR74.
