Has anyone used one of these? I tried contacting the seller but want to hear from first hand experience. I'm wondering if I can retain the OEM rear camera, factory microphone and steering wheel controls. And will the factory self parking be affected? I have a 2019 XLE with no nav or JBL, if that makes a difference.

I just bought one from a company called scicane and according to them even for a 2019 it will retain your oem camera and also steering wheel controls and also a jbl system if you have one which you said you don’t know I have a 2010 so will see how it goes I still haven’t received yet so will see.

I've seen a few threads on this board with... well maybe not this same head unit, but a similar new-generation Android system. Anyway there are a few already done, and documented on this site if you search around a bit.

    Congrats and good luck!

I'm looking at buying one of these too. I'll be very interested in hearing how the installs go.

To me, it just looks all wrong; there's a ridiculous amount of spaghetti. To me, if you're marketing a head unit as 100% Prius G4 compatible, you should be able to just unplug and remove the factory unit, and slide the new unit in, simply plugging all the factory cables into the equivalent positions on the new unit - the back of the aftermarket unit should look the same as the factory unit, with all the same receptacles for all the same connectors, and should Just Work. But this looks like something completely different, with a lot of messing about with cables and head-scratching involved.

There are a few decks like that, but generally only for insanely popular car models. If you have anything weirder than a Civic or an F-150 you're encouraged to look at the more generic solutions.

From what I’m told it is plug and play all the plugs get used for the factory harness the only difference is that there not connected to the back of the aftermarket head individually like the factory head unit but none the less it’s virtually the same thing I get my unit tomorrow but I must likely install it on the weekend so youll get an honest review from me if it’s easy moderate or hard

It actually arrived Saturday. Really fast shipping from China (I think 2 weeks). However, I am waiting on a wide angle HD camera to install at the same time. I ordered one from the company originally but wanted a better camera. Stupid me paid twice basically since the cameras were the same price..... I just placed an order for the camera 3 days ago so have to wait until it comes in.

Attached some pics. No logos on the headunit, as I requested. This caused an additional 5 days before they shipped. Once it did ship, it arrived within 5 days when it left China 20200909_051755.jpeg 20200909_051932.jpeg 20200909_052015.jpeg 20200909_052026.jpeg

Interesting! I'm close to pulling the trigger on one of these myself. Does it come with all the needed cables, and clear Prius G4 installation instructions?

Also, where I can buy it that is not AliExpress?! It is the most horrible unusable website I've encountered for a while

Lousy design, confusing interface, bunch of nastiness. I've tried to buy the thing a couple of times and got payments refused with claimed 'security errors'. The first time I tried to pay, I was given a choice between credit card and PayPal as payment methods; after the first time I tried a credit card, the PayPal option disappeared and I can't find any way to get it back again so I can't try to use PayPal instead.

    Really not confidence-inspiring.

I'm stupid and don't know how to multi quote from the phone app lol.

It would be really really hard for a manufacturer to make a headunit specifically for one vehicle. They have to mass-produce headunits or in batches at least. But the good thing is that they can make harnesses to adapt to many many vehicles. I doubt any headunit is readily plug-and-play.

To your other question, I haven't installed my headunit yet but all harnesses and wiring are already included. I'm waiting on a wide angle HD camera to come in to replace the stock one and install one in the front aimed towards my front lip. My car is really low so a camera would definitely help. I stupidly ordered a fixed-camera that was angled way too low and just reordered one today that has an adjustable bracket. I thought the camera on our cars were a wedge-type but now I realize is that they are mounted to a wedge already and the camera portion is really just a plain square....

I now have 4x cameras... I ordered two of the correct one in my pic so when I mount it in the front, I can adjust the angle . What's good is that I can remove the bracket and it should mount right into the spot where the OEM camera is. The wrong one pictured is extra and I have an spare non-wide angle one lol that I originally ordered with the radio. So stupid.... Guess it's important to double check before placing an order lol.

    Thanks, interesting.

Did you see my second question about whether there was any other place to buy it than AliExpress? That's a horrible website, I can't make it work for me at all, I'd sooner buy it on Amazon or eBay or some other place than AliExpress.

Unfortunately, no... Not for the exact model I wanted. Don't think there's really anything for our cars on Amazon or ebay. But yeah, I hear you on aliexpress.... Took a bit to find it, typing in certain keywords, model, year, etc. But finally, when I found it, towards the bottom, it starts suggesting similar headunits. It's a mess...

Here's an exact link to mine.

Please show us how it works after the installation. I looked for a compatible head unit for my 2020 Prius PRIME LE, but at least for this car, it is very hard to find anything. My understanding is that LE trim of Prius Prime with 7" head unit is shared with regular Gen4 head unit. I am not much of an audiophile, so don't really care about sound quality, but I am so frustrated about the UI on the Toyota OEM system. Just thinking a cheap aftermarket head units is better.

I hope to have it installed by next week. The only issue I could think of is that the wiring is different on the 2020+. At least that's what I've read since I can't just install a 2020 radio into my 2019 to get carplay

I thought the CarPlay is just a software thing. New Entune 3.0 can use CarPlay but not older Entune 2.0. But I don't know for sure. Either case, I don't use Entune or CarPlay.

If I go Crutchfield site and use the 2020 Prius without JBL, I can find a lot of car stereo units that are compatible, but if I do that with the 2020 Prius Prime with 7" head unit, then nothing is coming back as compatible.

I have an Android unit in my current 2014 but I'm researching about adding one to a new car since I am in the market. The one I have purchased have been on AliExpress. They stopped using Paypal some time ago to promote their own similar payment process. I too had problems using my credit card and had to call the credit card company. They quickly fixed it and said they automatically block some foreign transactions.
