    [drumroll please]

    a HALOGEN BULB! :faint2:

52.5k miles of leaving those on at all times and the left side finally went out tonight. serious inconvenience, might even have to call the tow truck.

even spent a whole 5 minutes digging through stuff to see if we had any spares laying around, and we don't even have the right damn bulb at this moment. ruined our whole night. omfg.

i think we're gonna have to sell it now. i mean, who knows what's next- taillights?! geez! i expected better.

Wow. At that rate....I may never have to replace a bulb. Sold my last car at 9 years with 48,000 miles on it.

I think you should be prepared for your Toyota dealer to tell you that this is somehow not under warranty.
Be prepared to carry this to a higher authority.:D

Dude! Go knock on wood! Somewhere between 60k and 65k my passenger side tail light bulb went out. It ruined my day much like you described. I had to down a couple of Prozac and a beer before I could regain a sense of calm. I mean like omfg, how can a car with such a great reliability record fail so catastrophically?

    :p

I'd better not say anything about headlights. Y'all might take it the wrong way. ;)

I actually just recently stopped leaving them on all the time. But did it constantly for about 40,000 miles.

G, I hope you have better luck with your next car. I'd hate to think how this will affect the resale value. Looks like the CNW "Dust to Dust" article was right after all.

I wont even mention my warranty driver side door rubber seal then! You all might take my Prius away for mistreatment!

I swear it came that way! The door gasket seal whatever you call it was tooshort and was ripped when we got it and I just waited until the 5K service to mention it to the dlr. I get it replaced next friday the 4th. yes they are open!

shut UP. DH moved away today, i had a flat tire, i put on the spare in the blistering heat, and as i watched the tech pull my car around after patching the tire i saw the #$*(&%^ drivers side tail light was out.

    ~53.5k miles.

damn, i just might have to sell this thing.

For some reason the car washing scene from Cool Hand Luke just came to mind. "Wipin' my brow, Boss."

And here I was annoyed by the water pump failure and the wheel bearing failure.

Lucky for me the headlights still work...
