The new Prius is going in on Friday for a check, is there any particular setting that we should request from Toyota?

    TIA

Year? Miles? These are important things to know.

Is this for some periodic maintenance check? Warranty work?

My only suggestion is to either have them or you get the kit and plan to clean the throttle plate.

It's a 2007 with 1200 miles. I'm taking it in for a check since it seems that many had problems with alignment upon delivery and we get very high winds here, I dont' need anything causing handling problems.

No need for a throttle plate cleaning. This seems to come on around 50k miles.

As for alignment, they can test it pretty quickly but there may be a fee. Typically, you'll get a summary sheet showing the values for all four wheels. If there is a problem, they can fix it.

    GOOD LUCK!

Definitely get an alignment check - tell them the car is "wandering" on the freeway and you think the alignment may be off - ot should be covered under warranty. The only problem is the rear alignment which has been a problem with the prius - and it's not adjustable so if it's out of spec, its an expensive repair. The longer you leave it, the more likely they'll give you a hard time if the rear is out (and you'll pay for it, if nothing else, in abnormal/rapid tire wear).

please reference the following prius owner experiences. it's a well known issue that these tires just suck.

** It's time to replace my tires. I'm at 31,000. Never rotated. And I think it is too late now.
** I had to replace my OEMs at 20k miles.
** With my OEMs only lasting 34K (rotated -- so I guess I got 3K more miles by rotating)
** Goodyear Integrity tires-- only ~20,000 miles on two different sets!
** I've rotated these 2 times in 22k miles. The edges are totally bald. Can't believe I'm ready for new tires already.
** ours reached downright dangerous at 28k. i was beyond displeased.
(note... the above quote was me. and our alignment was kept spot on since day one.)
** I kept mine inflated at 42/40 and they needed to be replaced at about 30K
** 46,200kms on them.. [...] The edges are already worn
** Now at 18,000 miles [...] Outer edges wearing out faster than rest of tire. My best guess is that we will replace all 4 tires at 25 to 35 thousand miles.
** Mine were gone at 20k.
** So I'm guessing I have about 25k on the Integrities. The edges have been bald for a long time.
** The original tires lasted (barely) 27,000 miles, the next set lasted 31,000
** I am on my second set of OEM tires, the first set lasted 34,000
** We had to replace two Prius tires at 25k (excessive shoulder wear), two more at 34k (same), and now all 4 at 52k (same). We had the alignment checked at 25k - it was good. We have been told, by dealer and tire dealer, that the tires were under-inflated (not true) and that the alignment was bad (not true). Today, the tire dealer stated that they have seen a lot of excessive Prius tire wear, and that nothing can be done about it.
    ** I only got 26k on mine

think about these next time you care to call someone "deceitful" would ya? thanks...
