    I thought it was strange to see an Ampera in the wild on I-69 westbound about 15 miles East of Lansing Michigan. It was no surprise that it had "manufacturer" plates. He flew by in the lane next to me and I had to wait for traffic to clear and catch up to him to get a few pictures. He was running between 80 and 85 MPH.

    Fugly looking, but better than nothing.

    Why would an Ampera be in the US? The only reason I can think of is for testing perposes but as it's pretty much the same car as the already released Volt then that can't be right either.

    Unless they're ironing out ALL the problems before release into Europe?

    The Ampera in your picture does have the correct rear body panels for an Ampera but it also has a reversing light low down which doesn't show on the European versions as these are built in higher.

    Perhaps they're going to try and sell both models (Volt & Ampera) in the US as some on here appear to prefer the styling of the Ampera to the Volt.

    I like the front end treatment better than the Volt. It has that Predator look. :D

    You might like the following UK Ampera review;

    It seems quite positive and I do like the colour of the car in their pics. Just a damn shame the Volt/Ampera is a 4 seater as after seeing this article I'd probably get one.

    Zero emissions zones mode, interesting.
    Well, I'll just have to settle for the Volt, when I hit the lottery. :D

    Usually if a vehicle appears on this website it means release is imminent.

    I like the colour of the test vehicle and think it might well be a seller, even with the high cost. In London you have an £8 a day 'congestion charge' which the Ampera will be exempt from. This alone is a significant saving.
