I have to crank my radio all the way up, I mean literally up to the max level of 62, in order to hear my AM stations. Then, when I tune to an FM station, my ear drums almost pops! I don't think this is normal operation but the service writer at the dealer insists that it is. Its really annoying, not to mention dangerous. Does anybody else have this problem?
I don't have this problem, CD audio is a little lower than XM, about the same volume as FM. AM matches FM, I usually l turn it up 5 more on AM/FM/CD then I do for XM.
Thanks for the input...I'm beginning to think that I may have a defective unit. I'll wait to hear from others before I return to the dealer to press my point. Thanks again!
You might look at the EQ settings. I think there are different setting for FM and iPod. I have no probelm in my 2012 mdl 2.
I've had two 1212 Prius- on both the AM volume was slightly lower than the FM volume- but I mean slightly lower! Like I listen to FM on 22 and AM on 24. If you have to increase volume to full on Am you have a bad radio or antenna or bad connection on the AM antenna.
Thanks folks...I obviously do have an issue with the radio and will definitely need to address this with the dealer. Thanks again for all the input.
