My 12v keeps dying because the doors keep unlocking (all of them at once, so it's getting the general unlock command and it's not just one door). No, there isn't a fob inside the car. I have 2 fobs and I took the batteries out. I can just sit in the car and it randomly and sporadically unlocks, I keep hearing all the locks unlock at once, even though they're all unlocked. I unplugged both power lock switches on both front doors. Any ideas?

2006 Prius with smart key option (disabled pushing button in).

    Hi and welcome to PRIUSchat.

Never heard that scenario before. Are there any error codes reported by any of the ECUs? You will need a Prius capable scanner to scan for codes.

I unplugged both lock/unlock switches. No codes on a normal wired OBD2 scanner. Could there be a code only Techstream can pick up??

Techstream will read all Prius codes, but it doesn't need to be Techstream, just a scanner that can read all the ECUs and not just limited to engine, brakes, and SRS like most cheap basic scanners.

+1 This is a weird one.

My first WAG: Electronics-the SKS (or other?) ECU is faulty.
Second WAG: Mechanics-a button, switch or door handle is faulty.

Other thoughts: back in the 90's and 00's, it was very common for dealers (or port distributers in the USA) to install add on's like alarm systems. One install point was at the drivers side kick panel where the fuse box is typically located in vehicles.

    GOOD LUCK!

Open the drivers door and hold down (or remove the screw from) door close switch. Move the door back and forth. Does it now try to unlock? With how you move the door? If yes on both then it's likely a problem in door flex cables.

You don't have any aftermarket stuff like alarm or remote starter installed?
