Yeah! Read the article again, there are many advances in the process but you are right a dose of skepticism is probably prudent.
US DOE funding for climate-related research. So, my kudos would go in that direction. Algal research is a large field that I don't follow closely. But it looks important that the process gets the nitrogen back out, more or less cleanly. Remember the commercials showing dinosaurs as the source of crude oil? Tain't so. Algae. Always been algae.
