Aftermarket wheels

    Sorry, I know this topic has been asked a lot, but I still have some questions for owners that have fitted larger tires to their C.

    1. Will 15x6.5 wheels with an offset of 38mm, and 195/60R15 tires fit correctly with no rubbing, and hopefully no need for spacers?

    2. What effect will wider tires, and perhaps slightly heavier wheels (17 pounds) have on fuel economy?

    3. I know the turning radius will increase slightly for city driving, but is there a flip side to that with better stability at highway speeds? The only thing that really bothers me about the C is how squirmy it can be at 65+ MPH, so any improvement in straight line stability would be a huge plus.

    I'm really tempted to get some lower end alloy wheels with Hankook Kinergy PT tires this weekend at Discount Tire since there would be $325 in rebates...cool at the steelies with hub caps are.

    F6B28480-C9C2-44FC-BFBF-9FB910769BE6.jpeg 15x6.5 Koenig Helium with stock tires (and Toyota centercaps). Definitely feel the difference the lighter and wider wheels make. Feels all around better handling, acceleration from stop, steering response, just better. I normally like larger wheels that fill the wheel well, but what I was after was shedding some weight and adding some width - so I stuck with the 15” which is right around 10lbs. iirc. The C would look terrific with 17” wheels and lo-pro tires, but it would suffer from the added unsprung weight. At 99hp, every ounce counts!

    I would pick my choice again in a second. I'm at a 205/50/16 which is just a smidge taller than stock. I forget the numbers off hand but basically a couple hundred miles of driving probably wears them into stock range lol. I did have to trim the rear a bit to fit that much tire under it, but the stability at speed was greatly improved. I did my RSR springs the day before the wheel and tires through, so my view isn't all from just the wheel upgrade.
