Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum and I just recently purchased a 2010 Prius and I was thinking about doing a little modification to the car by replacing the factory air filter & intake system to an "Injen short ram-air intake model# SP2090". I was told it should have help to gain about 5-10 hp once it's replaced. But my only concern is that I know the Prius made with a bunch of high-tech(or new-tech) electrical to control the vehicle while its driving. In this case the sensor that connected to the factory air box will be re-connected to the aftermarket intake system once the new part is installed. So my friend advised me by doing so, it could "potentially" burn the factory sensor and causing some crazy electrical failure later on... Has anybody here have ever conduct these type of modification to your Prius? And if you have had done something like this, how'd go afterward? Please advise, thanks...

If you go over to the Lexus CT200H forum someone on there named Matt_RN recently installed a Prius Injen. I wasn't all that interested but I saw that the guy obviously had a clue about what he was doing.

I would be very surprised if our small engine were to gain 5-10 hp.

If it is like the CAI on my other car, though you will feel like you have gained horsepower due to the throaty noise on full acceleration. That, of course, will probably result in lower MPG as you please yourself with a heavy foot.

I put in the Injen a few weeks ago. The car feels a little quicker, but that may be in my head,(which is ok) My only issue is that the check engine light remains on. I had it reset at the dealer, but it came back on. I read in the forum from Rodney, that there is no way to keep it off, so i will live with it. Other than that i am happy with it.

Hey thanks for the reply, but if that thing is gonna cause my engine light to be on the whole time, then I think I will probably hold the thought for now, until there's a more compatible aftermarket intake system to be invented. But thanks for sharing your experience!
