Two days ago I traded in my old reliable 2007 Toyota Prius. My daughter was mad at me for getting a new one because I was getting rid of her friend. She grew up in that car and even named the Navigation and car, Gloria. I decided to purchase a 2016 Blizzard Pearl Toyota Prius Four Touring with the Black Softex. I had to wait a week for the dealership to have it flat bedded from South Carolina to North Carolina. But the wait was worth it. It seems to have every little accessory with it.. I has the Premium Convenience Package, the Black Console and Shifter Bezel Applique, Carpet Mats, Cargo mats and cargo net. I had the car tinted, since I live in south. This car even had this LED package that came with it. It lights up underneath the car at night. Already stopped me from stepping into a puddle I didn't see. Of course, I don't know if it was a good or bad omen, but it was raining when I picked it up. I actually got a really nice deal for the 2016 and got almost on the high end for my 2007 for trade in, thanks to the quote Carmax gave me. The dealership match Carmax's offer. I didn't get the 2500 discount from Toyota, since I took the 0% interest. But the dealer gave me close to $3000 off my deal plus the lovely 0% financing. Driving home, the car handle really well in the torrential rain. When my daughter finally she saw the new car, she told me she hated it. She didn't go to the dealership, because she was upset. I found out later from her, that even though she likes it, because I got rid of her friend, she would of hated any car I bought, even a Tesla Ferrari, etc. I still have a lot to learn about the features in the car, which will take me a few days to learn. My only concern when buying the car was that it didn't have a spare tire. There was actually a remedy for the problem that Toyota offered. No, it was putting in a spare tire. I got a five year Road Hazard plan from Toyota, that was very inexpensive. Yes it is actually offered through Toyota. It guarantees if I get a flat tire, all I have to do is call the number, and they tow me to the closest Toyota dealership and they pay for a new tire to replace the damaged one. This is unlimited tires and towing for five years and it's renewable. Overall, I had a great experience at this dealer that I ended up buying it from. Luckily I ended up at this dealer, because the dealer I went too the day before didn't treat me like I was serious in buying a car. I still do miss my old 2007 Prius, but I look forward to another 7 - 9 years with my new 2016 Prius.

    Congratulations.
I'm hoping your daughter "befriends" the new Prius.

It's going to need a name.

We named our new Blizzard Pearl Prius "Salty". My wife has an Attitude Black Hybrid Avalon we named "Pepper".

After having the car for a few days, I really like it. It rides a lot smoother than the 2007 version. I am still trying to figure out all the electronics, but I guess I will figure it out sooner or later. The only problem I am having is getting the messaging to work with my iPhone 6 plus. For some reason no messages are showing up in the Prius. Anyone able to get an iPhone 6 plus or 6, or that matters, any iPhone to work with messages in the 2016 Toyota Prius. If so, how did you set it up?

Thanks. Only had 113000 but some things were starting to go on it, which would of cost me a good amount of money to fix. Decided it was time, especially with the 0% financing. Also I got a really good price for the trade in.

Your story and mine are similar. 200K on my 2006 Gen 2. How many on yours? I have my IPhone connected. I use the phone only. The phone book shows up on the car, so a call displays the caller. The cars voice recognition is horrible trying to call someone. So I use Siri, which works perfectly. I think the cars voice is ok changing radio stations. I don't see text from the phone on the car.

I am picking up my Gen4 model 2 on Saturday. Blue with black interior. I passed on my 2006 Gen2 with 178k to my kid. I was planning to keep the Gen2 until 250K at least, but her Mazda 626 blew the tranny at only 93k and she needed a car to use between college and her job. I love my Gen2 and I am sure I will love my Gen4 even more. I travel between NY and Maine almost weekly. Good luck with yours. Maybe you should have saved your Gen2 for your kid if she is old enough to drive. That is the car mine learned to drive in.
