are you talking the ev estimate, or your actual driving distance?

 

If you are talking about estimates then mine ranges after full charge. I was at 11.6 and now at 16.4 after a full charge.

 

this is the first time it's changed in 2 years? mine changes almost daily and goes up and down with the seasons, just as my actual ev miles do, although it's only an estimate and not an exact representation.

 

Weather has a lot to do w it. Warmer gives me higher estimate.

 

yes, the more miles you travel on ev, the higher the estimate goes and vice versa. it's a complicated algorithm though, and doesn't make a ton of sense. it is somewhat helpful and gets more accurate the closer you get to empty.

 

it's not unlike dte for gas, but i think the ice varies less than ev. thinks like hills and weather seem to effect ev more.

 

Yes. That just means you did pretty inefficient EV driving recently. Once you improve, that estimate will go back up.

In a way, that's how PiP teach you how to drive efficiently.

 

My EV estimate hangs around 10.8, rarely up to 11.0. Most of my travel is commute on the freeway (all but the two miles or so from my home), and the highway speed kills EV mileage.

 

Mine seems to act in the reverse of what you guys say. I do a lot of in town, EV driving on trips of 5 miles or less between stops. My estimate and actual miles on EV are usually in the 12 mile range. But if I do a bit of freeway driving of at least 30 miles one way, my estimated range goes up slightly after charging overnight. The last 12 miles of a trip involving freeways is all EV, including a long downhill run. The estimated EV range is usually about 8 at the top of the hill when I switch to EV, and I'll have about 3 miles remaining after the 12 miles home, 10 of which is freeway. So, a lot of regen from the hill.
I used to have estimates and actual EV in the high 15-16 range, but the new tires I got after two were damaged in an accident aren't LLR apparently. I've put 7k miles on them, so they should be broken in.

 

In first week (after my purchase in Jul), I was getting consistently EV estimate of 13.3 Miles. Then it dropped to 12.8 in following week. Later it is consistently showing me 12.4 to 12.6 mi. Last week for couple days it showed me 13.3. but now back to ~12.5

ESTIMATE value is all over the place, even when the temperature is fairly consistent. ACTUAL driving results is major influence. The system uses that to calculate what could happen the next time. If you do a lot of EV only or a lengthy drive in HV, that ESTIMATE value will change as a result.

The highest ESTIMATE that I get is 13.1 miles. It's well above what I get during the winter but quite a bit lower than what some others report.

Fortunately, you get the usable portion of the 4.4 kWh battery regardless of how it is utilized. That's usable capacity is 61.5% of the total, from a SOC (state of charge) of 85% to 23.5% for EV. Never recharging the battery-pack to 100% or depleted beyond the HV low of 18% is how longevity is achieved. It simply avoids the extremes.

 

The EV miles estimate is actually a plot by the folks a Toyota to make the whole built-in game thing control your mind.

Yes, but for us Gen II folks that had Prii with the bladder problems, we already had knighted the fuel gauge as the "guess gauge."

 

My one way work commute is 9.8 miles, 14 minutes. My fully charged max estimated EV range is between 10 and 11. I normally arrive work or home with less than 1 mile EV remaining. Lowering my speed one to two MPH makes a difference. In really cold weather, I have to reduce my speed to make my commute in EV. After 18 months, I'm starting to get the hang of it all.
