Adjusting the brake light switch

Yes most Toyotas are kind of similar except on a lot of Toyotas they face backwards towards the firewall and as you push the pedal down the white part comes out clicks the light on the brake lights on You let go of the pedal that raises pushes the white part of the switch in the lights go off.

 

Doesn't sound backwards to me, I can't remember seeing one that didn't face that way.

 

Well I'm not going out and ripping the underliner above my calves to look at the switch when I have time I'll look at the one on the gen 2 outback that's pretty much stripped. On some of my older Toyota's which are older than some people here The gold solenoid that would eject the smaller gold piece of metal when you step down on the brake pedal and would click and had a 10 mm adjusting nut around it faced towards the firewall as you push the pedal down the little gold piece would come out activate the brake lights if you wanted to alter when that was in the stroke you could undo the nut and back the brake light switch up or down to make it go off the second you look at the brake pedal or a little further in the stroke. I used to have a switch on my brake light so when I was excessively speeding down the interstate or wherever I could flip the brake light switch off so the police officer couldn't see me breaking and getting off at the next exit etc My 74 TE27 still has this switch yeah that's an old car.
