I normally one a bottle of techron every 12 months to help clean injectors. The Prius is coming
up on 12 months but I wondered if there are any issue with Techron added to the gas on a hybrid

I've driven over 90,000 miles in a Honda Insight using Amoco Ultimate Gold that has techron in it. No problems or issues.

If you live in an area where Chevron gas is sold, you get the Techron in the gas. Oh, and you don't need to get the premium gas to get the maximum amount of Techron. All three (87, 89 and (in California at least) 91) grades have the same amount of Techron.

Maybe in California, but here in Louisiana, the premium has a higher percentage of Techron. I used to haul the stuff and know for a fact that's true. If there was a bad mix when loading the fuel, we had to carry a bottle(or bottles) of Techron to the station to add before dropping the fuel in the store's tank. The ratio of Techron for Premium in doing this was higher than for Regular or Midgrade.

There was a time before Chevron started to comply with the TOP TIER gasoline specification where premium had a higher concentration of Techron than Regular (and mid-grade (89 octane) had a higher concentration of Techron than the 87 octane gas, but less than the premium gas). But that all changed with the adoption of the TOP TIER gas specification. The TOP TIER specification calls for the same amount of additive mix in all grades of gasoline sold (see http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html first paragraph/sentance on the page: "Gasoline retailers must meet the high TOP TIER standards with all grades of gasoline to be approved by the automakers as providing TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline.")

I use it every 5,000 miles as part of my oil/filter change regiment. I haven't experienced any ill effects because of its usage.

I always fill up at Chevron, never buy the bottled Techron though, zero problems.

..but presumably they could choose to exceed TopTier detergent levels in the Premium? if they wanted to push Premium sales. I know some TopTier companies say that they add 2 or 3x the TopTier minimum levels. I don't know their strategy, but my thought is they are not trying to push Premium these days...pretty much the EPA recipes are so strict there it is hard enough to make on-spec regular fuels.
