I have 2014 Prius III w/Navi. Thinking about adding a HUD. Can it be done and has anyone done it before?.
It can probably be done at some level of obsessiveness and expense ... your research would probably start most usefully in the wiring diagram, which usually shows asterisked-alternative wire routings and pinouts for the cars with and without certain options. Then you just figure out how many components came in different part numbers for the HUD and non-HUD versions, and try to pick those up from salvage yards. For a sense of the obsessiveness involved, if I remember right, the windshield glass is one thing that differs between HUD and non-HUD. The HUD version has slightly nonuniform thickness in the display area, so the outside and inside surface aren't quite parallel, so the HUD reflections from both surfaces match up from your point of view. -Chap
There are HUD apps for your cellphone available. Search HUD display. They display a mirror image that you see reflected off your windshield at night. Using GPS, it can display speed, distance traveled, etc.
There is one without phone on amazon that goes with your obd2.its around 50 dollar. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
